If you are faced with a legal challenge, you know how overwhelming the process can seem, and how emotionally and mentally taxing it can be to deal with such situations. A law firm serving the Greenwood and Indianapolis areas, The Tyson Law Firm, P.C. is here to guide you through the jungle of legal complexity, working in the areas of Family Law, Business Law, Civil Litigation, Landlord-Tenant Law, Bankruptcy, and Criminal Law. We will fight aggressively on your behalf, to obtain a just and satisfactory result. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I charge either by the hour, or on a flat-fee basis. Much of this depends on the details of each specific case. If the case is a complex one, where there is no definable timeline, I typically charge by the hour. Where the case is more straightforward and somewhat predictable, I try to charge on a flat-fee basis.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Typically, I will meet with clients and do a consultation, during which we will discuss the details of their case. I will then give them a summary overview, outline for them how I would handle the case, and, if they are interested in moving forward, have them sign an agreement and get started.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, High Honors, from Marian University. I then attended the IU McKinney School of Law, from which I received my J.D. While at IU-McKinney, I was also inducted into the Order of the Barristers, an honor society denoting skill in oral and written advocacy. Since starting in practice, I have handled dozens of cases ranging from Criminal to Business to Family Law.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I worked in both the non-profit and commercial sides of the world, before deciding to go to law school. I chose to earn a law degree because I saw it as an opportunity to enter an exciting profession, that would challenge me, and also give me the opportunity to help a lot of people and make an impact on their lives.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have represented just about every type of person, from single mothers to churches to small business owners to military officers. One of the benefits of my practice is being able to work with such a diverse group of clients, on a wide variety of issues.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I was able to get a couple released from a very bad home lease, in which their residence had a gas leak and a broken furnace, and in which the landlord refused to make any improvements or give them any assistance.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
1. Do thorough research on any potential attorney online: examine their reviews, look over their website, check their social media, etc. 2. Ask friends, relatives, and fellow community members if they have had good experiences with any particular attorney in the past. 3. Call the attorney and speak with him/her directly. See if they are willing to take the time to answer all of your questions, and ask them for detailed information on their rates, their areas of practice, their references, etc.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. What are your objectives? 2. What is your budget? 3. Is trial a possibility in my case? 4. If so, am I willing to settle, or do I insist on a trial? 5. What do I want in an attorney?
