Introduction

Over the last 30 years I have helped add the extra finesse to many weddings and parties. My daughter has grown up helping and is very good at planning events. My daughter-in-law has joined with a background in decorating. Due to our growth, we recently added several other planners/coordinators/assistants. Most all of us have our food handlers and alcohol serving licenses. Together, we have just what it takes to create the perfect experience for you. We have the young touch with the years of experience to create a perfect event full of finesse.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Our pricing is generally based on the entire event and not priced out for individual projects and meetings, etc.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I find out their basic needs first. If it is something I can help with then I set an appointment for a consult, take down more information and provide a price quote.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I trained on the job in the catering department at two colleges. I have planned and coordinated 100s of corporate events, parties and weddings. My formal education is elementary education- that requires organizational skills! I also had a business of 500+ consultants and my daughter grew up watching and helping me and has now joined me in our business, Finesse Weddings and Events. We have taken online trainings and learned together.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

My (Tara) first exposure to event planning and catering was working with my college catering department. I then continued from there to plan and cater events, plan and coordinate big events and weddings. I did this mostly for friends during the summers, as I taught school during the year. My daughter (Brittney) grew up watching me plan and orchestrate all different events and has always helped. She is very good at organizing and planning as well.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We have worked with all type of customers and really get along with anyone. Tara (mom) speaks Spanish and is very familiar with the Latin culture and celebrations. Brittney’s husband and in-laws are from Argentina and Spain.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We coordinated, decorated and catered a 30th wedding anniversary garden party for 50 guests. It was planned in 2 weeks.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Sit down, in person if you can, to interview them and have a consult to see if you click.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

It is nice to have an idea of dates, deadlines and locations. Then, we can work together to make a list of exactly what they need to hire us for.
