What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Our training process is completely flexible to fit your needs—whether you prefer do-it-yourself training courses, virtual coaching, or in-person private lessons. For private lessons, we start with a free consultation to discuss your goals, your dog’s behavior, and the best training approach for your situation. From there, we create a customized training plan tailored to you and your dog. For in-person training, we typically meet in a public space in Beaverton to work on real-world skills, but we can also travel to your home if you're within 10 miles. If you're outside that range or prefer remote support, virtual training is also available! No matter the format, our goal is to make training simple, effective, and stress-free so you can enjoy a well-behaved dog.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our team has extensive hands-on experience working with dogs of all backgrounds and behavior challenges. McKenna has worked with hundreds of dogs and owners in group training settings, consistently earning top reviews from happy clients. Monica is a graduate of CATCH Dog Trainers Academy with experience in service dog training and board-and-train programs. Together, we’ve helped dogs with everything from basic obedience to serious behavior issues like reactivity and aggression. We’re always continuing our education, learning from top trainers in the industry to ensure we provide the best, most effective training methods for our clients. Our mission is simple: helping you and your dog succeed with proven, practical training that gets results.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
We started Pup School because we saw too many frustrated dog owners struggling to get their dogs to listen. They were overwhelmed, second-guessing themselves, and unsure how to stay consistent. Worse, they were bombarded with conflicting advice—some of it outdated, harsh, or just plain ineffective. We wanted to make dog training simple, stress-free, and actually doable for everyday owners. Training shouldn’t feel like a battle—it should be clear, structured, and rewarding for both you and your dog. That’s why Pup School focuses on easy-to-follow methods, real-world results, and helping owners feel confident in their training. Because when you understand how to communicate with your dog the right way, everything clicks—and life with your dog becomes so much easier.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Dog training is an unregulated industry, meaning anyone can call themselves a dog trainer—even without proper education or experience. Because of this, it’s crucial to do your research before hiring a trainer. Choosing the wrong trainer isn’t just a waste of money—it can actually make your dog’s behavior worse and damage your relationship with them. Look for trainers who: ✔ Have real education and experience working with a variety of dogs. ✔ Use proven, science-based methods that are fair and effective. ✔ Can explain their training approach clearly (no vague promises). ✔ Have great reviews and happy clients to back up their claims. We believe in customized, ethical training that gets results while strengthening your bond with your dog. No gimmicks, no outdated techniques—just practical, proven training that works.
