Introduction

**SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY** Thumbtack charges me any time someone contacts me through this platform regardless of whether they hire me, so please, if you're just shopping around or have a question, contact me via Instagram or through my website. With that bit out of the way, I'd love to share little about myself. I'm a professional photographer with over 10 years of experience shooting everything from weddings and engagements to commercial fashion editorials. Like so many others, I live for love and seek joy in all parts of my life, and I think this is reflected in my work. I'm passionate about documenting moments of celebration and human connection, and aim capture the interaction between my subjects and their surroundings with clarity, compassion, and honesty. When working with my clients, my first priority is to put people at ease. I do everything I can to help them enjoy the experience of getting their photo taken because it's not always easy being in front of the camera. When I'm able build trust and connection with people, everything else seems to fall into place. When working with me, expect a fun, relaxed, and well-organized environment.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My starting rate for any portrait, event, or commercial photography is $250. Larger projects vary in price depending on the scope of the work. Depending on the circumstances I can offer discounts on a case by case basis.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always want to get to know my customers some before booking a shoot. I'm mostly curious to know about what inspires them and what they hope to gain from working with me. For weddings and engagements, it's nice to know about how the couple met, what they love about each other, and how they spend their time together. More than anything, I just want to make sure that my clients feel comfortable and safe to be themselves around me. Most of my work involves photographing people, and I believe that I'm able to produce the best images when my subjects are at ease.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a self-taught photographer with 10 years of experience shooting everything from weddings and events to still-life product photography.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I first began taking pictures in high school while taking a black and white film photography class. I was able to learn the fundamentals of still photography and darkroom printing processes. I haven't stopped since.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have mostly worked with smaller brands on fashion editorial campaigns and regular people who want portraits and lifestyle photographs for their social media and professional profiles. I've also worked with actors who need headshots, musicians, restaurants, and other businesses who need professional-quality product photography.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently did a larger shoot for a swimwear company called MOMMA - we shot 6 different looks in 4 hours at a beautiful natural light studio in downtown Seattle. We had a great team and had a lot of fun, and managed to squeeze in a lot of work for a half-day shoot.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Find someone whose work resonates with you, someone who you'd be excited to be photographed by, and pay them their rate. It's very difficult and expensive to run a photography business, which is why it's expensive to hire photographers - find someone who you think is worthwhile and pay them well for the good work they do.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What do you want to get out of this photoshoot? Where do you want this shoot to take place? Do you have any creative vision or idea of how you want the photos to look? How much can you afford to pay?
