Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We are committed to accommodating a variety of budgets by tailoring our project scope in a transparent manner as to never skimp prep-work (unless requested and outlined) and always adding value to existing contracts when the project allows.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Answer the call, Set the estimate date and time, Show up on-time and masked, Bid with integrity emphasising the necessity and shaving off unneeded expense. Then we give a verbal figure to compare with other outfits, an emailed formal bid proposal will follow. Once an agreement is reached. A contract will then be emailed to the future client and an in-person signing will be scheduled (sometimes done remotely). A deposit will then be taken and a firm start date usually the same as in the proposal will be agreed upon. Finally, we show up, Clean cut and in uniform. Ready to work!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Cornerstone Brushworks is Fond of every project. Yet, one Project that stands out in memory is painting Mark Adkins (Adkins Legacy Homes) Personal Home in and out. In which he was quoted stating that he had never seen that level of quality on the exterior of a home in his entire career. When describing the White conversion varnish Clear coat applied to his black walnut desktop he is quoted using phrases such as " Over the Top" and his carpenter installing cabinetry stopped work to call Mark and tell him "you are gonna love this quality". Both men have over 30 years in the game and Marks father built some of the largest complexes on coburg rd. This made me smile.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
What the Contractor says he will perform in the bidding process should be explained clearly. The scope should also be well represented in the contract itself. Beware of pricing that is below the middle of the road. Not that all low bids are cheating, but really ask about the level of prep work going in to the work. Such as caulking, scraping and priming. Compare the material grades between bidders, some may have a higher quality paint in their bid and that increases the bottom line. Our proposals all come with a product section outlining exactly what you are paying for, what is included with the work and what is excluded from the work. We take pride in that every bid we submit is both easy to understand and fair in its pricing. There are those companies that would rather "low ball" a job, just to keep it from being landed by a rival. If you are diligent in your questions. This should be made plain to you and you will get both a Finish that is Durable, Beautiful, and affordable.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Square footage is a good starting place. Having a good idea of the colors that you are after. Instituting good communication about start dates and the firmness of them. This is probably the most important There are times that the Contractor will be asked to accommodate additions made by a current client. This is happens with some regularity when working with a quality outfit. Many times have we been near completion and our client loves the work so much. They would like to add a cabinet or a room or an out building. Leaving the job and scheduling a return trip although possible. Will effect the bottom line and increase the price of the addition considerably, although this may be the only option due to the firmness of our future clients start date.. So being clear as to how firm your starting date is, always helps the contractor know how to handle any changes made by the current client.
