What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When I start with a brand new client, I first like to do an initial meeting (free of charge) to get to know them better and see if we would make a good match. After the first meeting, we would next have a fitness assessment so I can see muscle imbalances and also discuss goals, nutrition, past injuries, etc.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Bachelor's of Science degree in Applied Exercise and Health from Purdue University - 2014 American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer - 2011 CPR/AED Certified - 2017

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've always had a passion for being healthy and active since I was a kid. After high school I enrolled into Purdue University to study Applied Exercise and Health. In 2011, I became a certified trainer and continued to advance in my profession while at school and after graduation.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with the Army ROTC at Purdue University, I have trained the general public at Snap fitness, I have worked with cardiac patients at St. Elizabeth hospital during an 8 week clinical, I have also worked with the elderly at Westminster Village retirement home for an 8 week clinical, and I have worked with factory employees at Subaru of Indiana Automotive. I have trained full time as a contracted employee for 4 years under my own business, B Lewis Fitness. I’ve seen success with training both women and men both with building muscle and losing body fat, but my specialty is getting skinny men to add on more muscle and greatly increase their strength.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I have recently created a "Lift Clinic" program at my current place of employment. This is a program covering the technique of the squat, bench press, overhead press, and deadlift. The goal of the Lift Clinic is to reduce pain associated with those movements due to incorrect form. This program took 3 weeks to develop and runs in 4 week blocks.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Check that the provider has proper certifications and a history of providing their service.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1) Is the cost of the desired service worth it if it will help to improve your quality of life? 2) Does my personality and the trainers personality match/will our time together be enjoyable? 3) How often and for how long do I wish to have training sessions? 4) Am I looking for a short term fix to a long term problem, or are my expectations/goals reasonable for the amount of sessions desired.
