Introduction

The many ups and downs in my life got me to my passion as a fitness coach. From being picked on as the skinny kid in grade school, becoming overweight and drinking my way through my early 20s, then having a fitness awakening and being in the best shape of my life which got me my initial start at being a personal trainer, then losing it all again after my daughter passed away and gained all my depression weight, to then reclaiming my life again which is where I am now. I know the journey is usually not pretty but I have learned to embrace the highs and the lows. And man, sometimes it gets real low. But I believe I am pretty damn good at climbing out of the low and helping others get out of there too. I train at my gym located in Happy Valley, Oregon. Contact me for a free fitness consultation!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
There are no hidden fees, initiation, or long-term contracts! I make an effort to make my prices affordable and have flexible options to make sure finances don't get in the way of reaching your fitness goals. There are also tiered discounts where prices are reduced the more sessions you have per week.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Every new client starts out with a fitness consultation and multiple assessments. Which consists of building a connection and doing a few exercises for me as the trainer get to know the individual's body. Picking a plan that works for the client is case by case depending on the client's needs and goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Certified Personal Training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I have trained with a diverse set of individuals -- ranging from weight loss clients, ninja warrior enthusiasts, and seniors with osteoporosis or injuries.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have trained clients with a wide range of backgrounds. I've trained individuals with disabilities, athletes, clients that are just looking for general fitness, and more. A list of limitations that I have worked with include, arthritis, post heart attack, lupus, back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, osteoporosis, and diabetics.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Shop for the outcome. First think about where you see yourself in your fitness journey in the short, medium, and long-term. Once you meet with your trainer, how will they get you there? If you are not sure I would recommend that you: 1. Ask more discovery questions, 2. See if they offer a complimentary session 3. See how well they listen and adapt to your specific needs.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. What are my goals? This my seem straight-forward but you would be surprised how many people are not really sure despite reaching out to a trainer. Of course, everyone will say they want to be 'healthier.' However, we need to get down to the nitty gritty and find out what healthier means to YOU as an individual. Examples: "I want to have more energy to play with my kids after work without feeling exhausted.” → This points to improving stamina, managing stress, and maybe getting better sleep. “I want to lower my blood pressure so I don’t have to rely on medication.” → A health-specific goal rooted in medical necessity. “I want to lose 20 pounds so I can feel confident at my cousin’s wedding in six months.” → This gives a measurable goal and timeline, and it also hints at motivation driven by confidence and appearance. There are more examples, but ultimately this kind of context will help your trainer connect with you more on a deeper level and provide extra motivation to get you where you need to go. 2. What are the obstacles keeping me from achieving those goals? Understanding what’s been holding you back allows a coach to help you overcome those barriers, whether they’re habits, fears, or practical challenges. Your coach can then build strategies to hold you accountable and keep you on track. It's also okay to not know what is holding you back for sure, but provide that feedback so your coach can get in discovery mode with you. Examples: Lack of time, unhealthy eating habits like fast food or soda, fear of injury, or just feeling unmotivated. 3. From a scale of 1-10, how motivated am I to reach my goals? This helps you and your coach gauge how much they can meet you halfway. Some people already have their back against the wall and at a 10. Some people are wanting to make improvements on their health, but obstacles keep them lower on the scale (and that is okay)! Even if we are lower on the scale, what is important is the willingness to get towards a 10 or allow your coach to guide you. You want to get to the point that even if you don't feel motivated, you know in your mind you will do still do the work anyway!
