Hi, my name is Jay and I have been a photographer/videographer for the better half of two decades. I started HYLO Events (wedding, engagement, party photography) in 2013, and portsbyjay as my boudoir brand back in 2019; and have also worked closely with some of the top studios in weddings, and established brands in the automotive industry. My passion is creating artistic visuals primarily using natural light, but have extensive knowledge with off camera flash. I primarily shoot with the Sony ecosystem, and currently am using the A7RIII for photos, and the A7SIII for video. I do all the editing and retouching myself (disclaimer: I am not a master retoucher), which gives me a more expansive view on what could be improved on during the photoshoot phase. My prices are competitive without sacrificing quality. I do have a bit of a type-A personality, so I pay particular attention to the details, especially for weddings! I compose myself with a fun, yet professional manner at all times (doesn't matter the circumstances). Working boudoir and weddings for numerous years has really taught me about professionalism and a committed work ethic.

I am passionate about creating images that truly reflect the most beautiful version of who you are. I take the time to understand your personality and what you want to convey, so each image feels authentic and unique to you. My favorite images to capture are portraits but I also really enjoy shooting couples, maternity, events, and lifestyle content. I've been in business for over eight years, with experience working alongside everything from large brands to everyday people and their families. Empathy and understanding are two of the most important things in photography, in my opinion. It's with these in mind that I provide my clients with services that seek to understand their project as much as possible before moving forward. I've worked a number of different jobs in the marketing and advertising world. As a result, I'm able to adapt my understanding and perspective to the client and project in a way that translate through the image. My favorite thing about being a photographer is capturing the sort of image that causes my client to nod their head enthusiastically and shout out "YES" when they see the progress made.
