Hi -
My piano lessons are truly goal-changing. I teach music as a language, giving the student specific exercises to place in the subconscious. These are serious lessons. I want you to succeed.
Once you can "speak" music, music is effortless and fun (See Kenny Werner). All my regular students have free access to all my courses.
My lessons are 45 minutes. I teach in an organized Step-by-Step approach. The goal is to create a spontaneous, creative and meaningful music language in the subconscious. It Works! Special: First lesson is $50 (reg $70). Let's talk. Call me today!
I teach both classical and jazz. I have a Masters Degree in classical piano and I am an active jazz performer and author of books and online courses. My main interest is teaching pianists to improvise music. That is the most fun and life-changing. I'm only interested in teaching students who are serious about achieving their musical goals.
Give me a call, text, Zoom or email. I am happy to discuss your music goals and my teaching methods.
I have an extensive online jazz piano course called "JazzSkills for Piano". I also have individual lessons called "JAZZ MASTERCLASS: Step-by-Step.
--Martan π
P.S. I am very passionate about performing and teaching piano. Music is my life. I believe that playing music gives us much joy and balance in our life. I sincerely want music to change your life.

HI! I'm Matt. I'm an award-winning, conservatory-trained pianist, composer, producer, and educator out of Los Angeles πΆ
Though I am a music professor at Occidental College π€, I enjoy teaching all ages and levels -- from aspiring beginners and music undergrads to consummate professionals and performing artists alike.
I develop custom-tailored lesson plans based on the students' unique goals & prior experience -- this includes popular genres such as classical, jazz, pop, and R&B.
I can help you learn improvisation, sight-reading, music production, ear training, and
audio engineering. Lessons are always simple, rewarding, and most importantly, fun! This is especially important if you're looking to play music instead of trudge through method-books! π€
For online Zoom lessons, multiple camera angles accurately resemble the hands-on experience of an in-person lesson (see pics below).
*I offer a free 20 min consultation to ensure your satisfaction with the applicable technology π¨βπ»
As a performer, I've worked and toured with some of the best -- the stars of "American Idol", "Glee", and "The Voice,β REO Speedwagon, and Engelbert Humperdinck. A myriad of notable jazz all-stars including Kamasi Washington, Clare Fischer, Bill Watrous, Eric Marienthal, and Zane Musa πΉ
My compositions can be heard in a multitude of media platforms, from various tv commercials, feature films like Big Momma's House III, various movies on The Lifetime Network, and television shows such as βBones", βMillionaire Matchmaker" and MTV's "10 on top" π§
Music has been the passion of my life since I was 4 years old. It is my honor and privilege to share it with you! Please message me with any questions and I look forward to meeting you!
