My name is Olivia Rebolledo, and my journey with music began at age 6 when I started playing piano. Since then, I've had great teachers that taught me playing methods, music theory, performance, and pedagogy. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Music at Metropolitan State University of Denver and studied with teachers from Denver University and University of Boulder. I have vast professional experience playing music in concert halls, festivals, jazz clubs and all venues in between. Ranging from classical to jazz, pop, gospel and many other genres. Having constant experience playing and performing helps me to teach and connect to students at all levels and styles. With over 15 years of experience teaching, we'll cover music theory, learning to read sheet music, understand chords, and explore various genres. From classical masterpieces to modern tunes and even your favorite songs! But beyond just playing the notes, I'll teach you to infuse your music with emotion, to connect with the pieces you play, and to use the piano as a means of self-expression. Furthermore, I firmly believe that music should be enjoyable and rewarding. While I'll challenge you to strive for excellence, I'll also make sure our lessons are filled with fun and excitement. There's no need to fear making mistakes – they're simply stepping stones on the path to improvement. With patience, practice, and perseverance, you'll witness your skills soar to new heights. My approach to teaching piano, drums, and voice is simple! Show students how to play/sing songs they already love, regardless of genre, and provide them with the necessary tools for teaching themselves new songs. Building a musical foundation on this premise allows for students to maintain their interest in music, while simultaneously becoming more proficient, making learning music enjoyable and worthwhile without losing steam. My individualized lessons ensure that students learn how to sight read and play by ear regardless of age or skill level. Whether the desire is to play for fun or to become a professional musician, my approach delivers an effective way to learn music and keep it fun while doing so.

MFA Interdisciplinary Dance Performance and MFA Piano Performance, Tulane University I love my life, and I love teaching! Currently, I have a wonderful, diverse group of students who inspire me. Some are children as young as 5 years old, and others are adults, from complete beginners to award-winning artists. Now, I'm looking for more talented, passionate, and hard-working students here on Thumbtack! In addition to performance, I am trained in pedagogy, which means I know how to teach in many different ways. I create a unique lesson plan for every student, based on their interests and abilities. Ultimately, I want lessons to be fun! Students are taught how to approach every piece of music/dance confidently, economically, and artistically. My Master’s Thesis focused on the dynamic, interdependent relationship between movement and sound. Deconstructing piano technique into simple choreographic units helps students learn faster and play more expressively. I am very proud of receiving my Master of Fine Arts in Piano Performance under world renowned concert and recording artist, Faina Lushtak. My ballet training includes School of American Ballet, NYC Ballet, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, and Delta Festival Ballet.
