I'm a professional guitarist and instructor, and I’ve been turning new learners into confident guitar players for over a decade. I teach music first — scales and drills second — so that you’re playing songs within a few sessions. My approach to teaching is totally adaptable for all ages and skill levels, goal-oriented, and judgement free. Improvement guaranteed after the first lesson! Cancellations and reschedules are totally flexible, but I do charge for no-call no-shows.

I make study a human exercise as opposed to just a mechanical one. I try to understand my students so as to teach to their level of interest and understanding and then hopefully take it to the next level. l love music and teaching and so this is the perfect profession.

With over 30 years of experience as a piano teacher, I have guided students of all ages and levels to success in local competitions and festivals. Many of my students have pursued careers in music, while others continue to play for their own enjoyment. Based in Michigan, I offer both in-person and online lessons, with online options available for those who live too far to drive to my home. I hold a doctorate in piano and have been recognized in various prestigious competitions. My extensive background in The Taubman Approach, a peer-reviewed piano technique based on sound physiological and mechanical principles, allows me to help students maximize their virtuosity while avoiding or reversing injury. I have studied with renowned experts such as Dorothy Taubman and Sheila Paige and was appointed to the teacher training program at the Keyboard Wellness Seminar in 2015. My teaching career has included positions at the University of Iowa, Grinnell College, and Macomb Community College. I now teach from my home studio, continuing to help students achieve their musical goals. I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential and grow in confidence. My students have achieved notable successes, such as winning full scholarships to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, being finalists in the Leonard Slatkin Concerto Competition, and being named winners in the Honors Recital Competition at Schoolcraft College. Additionally, one of my students won first alternate (4th place) in the Michigan Music Teachers SAT semifinals high school division this year, and several students have received keyboard scholarships to Interlochen

ATTENTION: - I'M OFFERING A SPECIAL: IN PERSON OR ONLINE, 4 1/2 HOUR LESSONS FOR 1/2 PRICE $20 EACH. WHAT WOULD NORMALLY BE $180 IS NOW $80. In person lessons must be fully vaccinated. My regular rate is $45 1/2-hour, $80 hour. There's never a contract. People want to study singing for so many reasons. You've sung all your life and want to sing better. You'd like to be able to audition for a better chorus or a part. You were told you were tone-deaf when you were 5, and haven't dared make a sound since, or if you have, people have laughed at you. Those are all good reasons. My job is to take you wherever you are, whatever you hope to achieve, and help you sing better whatever that is. The lessons themselves can be done online, or in person within New Jersey only. New Yorkers usually don't want to come to NJ, but you could take lessons online. If you're apprehensive doing lessons online, please read my reviews. Quite a few of them are from online students. There's never a contract. You can try one lesson and see what you think. Your health is the most important thing to address in lessons. People come to me with chronic sore throats from strain, limited ranges, breaks. We fix these things, and you sound great and have fun. I don't let 12-year-olds sound like they're 30. I care, and I'm good. The human voice is the most wonderful toy I can imagine. As a teacher, I get to play in everyone's toy box. It's all fun. I love helping someone who thinks they can't sing on pitch sing on pitch. I love working with people who've sung all their lives and just hope people won't laugh at them. I show members of the chorus that they're soloists, and no one's laughing. I love working with beautiful, strong, healthy voices that just need a little help to fly. I love it all.
