ATTENTION: - I'M OFFERING A SPECIAL: IN PERSON OR ONLINE, 4 1/2 HOUR LESSONS FOR 1/2 PRICE $20 EACH. WHAT WOULD NORMALLY BE $180 IS NOW $80. In person lessons must be fully vaccinated. My regular rate is $45 1/2-hour, $80 hour. There's never a contract. People want to study singing for so many reasons. You've sung all your life and want to sing better. You'd like to be able to audition for a better chorus or a part. You were told you were tone-deaf when you were 5, and haven't dared make a sound since, or if you have, people have laughed at you. Those are all good reasons. My job is to take you wherever you are, whatever you hope to achieve, and help you sing better whatever that is. The lessons themselves can be done online, or in person within New Jersey only. New Yorkers usually don't want to come to NJ, but you could take lessons online. If you're apprehensive doing lessons online, please read my reviews. Quite a few of them are from online students. There's never a contract. You can try one lesson and see what you think. Your health is the most important thing to address in lessons. People come to me with chronic sore throats from strain, limited ranges, breaks. We fix these things, and you sound great and have fun. I don't let 12-year-olds sound like they're 30. I care, and I'm good. The human voice is the most wonderful toy I can imagine. As a teacher, I get to play in everyone's toy box. It's all fun. I love helping someone who thinks they can't sing on pitch sing on pitch. I love working with people who've sung all their lives and just hope people won't laugh at them. I show members of the chorus that they're soloists, and no one's laughing. I love working with beautiful, strong, healthy voices that just need a little help to fly. I love it all.

I have a passion for singing and performing, and I absolutely love sharing that enthusiasm with people of all ages! I get excited to pick out specific repertoire perfect for individual students and to work with them in depth in order to beautifully sing that piece of music. Passionate about expression, diction, and technique I aim to inspire others to reach their highest potential and musical goals. Getting to watch my students progress over time and seeing all of their wonderful accomplishments is the best part about being a teacher for me!

I have over 18 years of experience as a Jersey City/NYC based private voice and piano teacher, performer, and actor. I'm also on the voice faculty of Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege program and the lead singer for the Silver Starlite Orchestra. I moved back to the NYC area about 7 years ago after performing and teaching in London and all over Europe for over 3 years (as well as studying with Sheila Barnes at Cambridge University). Before I hopped across the pond to London, I held a studio in NJ/NYC for 8 years, was the sole music teacher at Professional Arts Academy and worked at Distinguished Concerts International NY - organizing large choirs as well as performing with them at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education (certified to teach K-12 music in NJ), as well as a Master of Music in Music Performance; with a vocal concentration in both degrees. I have been singing and performing all over the world for over a decade (including opera, musicals, pop and jazz) and playing piano since I was a child. Living right outside or inside New York City my entire life and performing around the US, all over Europe, and parts of Asia, I have studied and worked with some of the finest musicians, teachers, conductors, coaches and directors in the business. As musicians are never done learning; I still continue to study with Amy Shoremount-Obra (NYC Metropolitan Opera) and Dan Bar Hava (Manhattan School of Music) as well as monthly masterclasses and seminars. Some of the local halls I have soloed in include Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center, The United Nations (NYC), Walt Whitman Theatre, Miller Outdoor Theatre and many more. I have also acted and sung in 2 independent feature films: Cardio with Ian Todary Productions, NYC (Amazon Prime 2021) and Balls with Parallaxe Films (London, UK; Geneva, SUI). Balls, a film loosely based on my experiences as a teacher/performer, uses the power of music to help a man struggling with Tourette’s. It was met with great acclaim at the Geneva International Film Festival in 2019 and won “best romance” from New York International Film Awards in 2020 and “best feature film” from London Rolling Film Festival in 2021. I have been teaching voice and piano for over 18 years to various levels of musicians. Whether you are looking to improve your singing (and/or speaking voice), learning to play piano for fun or are looking for very serious instruction to be considered for colleges, competitions or summer programs; I can help. I teach all ages: 4 - adult for piano and 7 - adult for singing. Both my voice and piano students have placed in competitions, been accepted into prestigious music programs such as LaGuardia High School of Music, Berklee School of Music, etc, elite choirs, and shows as well as taking exams with ABRSM, NYSSMA and Trinity. I have trained my voice students for auditions for roles on Broadway, the West End, agents, commercials, Master's programs in voice, etc... For singing in different languages I can coach English, German, French, Italian, and Latin. I have also studied with acting teachers and worked with acting directors for the stage, movies and commercials and can coach techniques for onscreen and stage acting. I have a very individualized approach that focuses on each student's strengths and areas for improvement in a highly supportive and encouraging environment at my studio in downtown Jersey City or on FaceTime or Zoom. I have been teaching for over 15 years. I teach privately full-time and run my own company in NYC. We offer internet lessons for students all over the world. If you are interested in in-person lessons, we offer this service in NYC and Westchester County. I personally hire other enthusiastic and experienced music teachers to work with me. I believe learning music should be fun. While it also takes hard work and dedication, a student must first enjoy music in order to continue and progress. My teachers and I incorporate well-known songs into lessons so that students can relate to what they are learning. We also use many of our own games and worksheets to keep students engaged at all times. We offer many different types of lessons including singing, piano, acting, guitar, songwriting, and much more. We also offer two (optional) recitals each year so that students can showcase what they have learned. I love watching students of all ages progress and accomplish things they never thought they could accomplish. This helps them to grow not only as a musician, but also as a person. I have watched all of our students become more confident as their lessons progress. It's exciting because music education is so much more than just teaching students notes on a page.
