“The only reason for mastering technique is to make sure the body does not prevent the soul from expressing itself.” -La Meri I’ve been playing violin for over 20 years, and one of the greatest rewards is passing along all I’ve learned to my students! I’m here to help you reach your goals and cheer you on along the way, whether you want to simply have fun learning a new skill or you want to work intensely toward a performance or audition. I care deeply about providing a safe and engaging learning environment to help my students thrive. I would love to teach you or your child! Distinguishing features: ~I hold degrees from top music schools where I studied with violin teachers known as among the best in the country. I hold dual master’s degrees in violin performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan where I studied with Colburn alum Danielle Belen, winner of the 2008 Sphinx Competition and former teaching assistant to Robert Lipsett. I earned my bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Oberlin Conservatory with Juilliard alum David Bowlin, winner of the 2003 Washington International Competition and founding member of the International Contemporary Ensemble. ~I’m classically trained but have experience performing pop music and other genres as well. ~I provide a holistic and well-rounded teaching approach as I’ve taken classes and read books on topics such as brain science and learning, physical wellness for musicians, string pedagogy (which included study of the Suzuki approach), Baroque violin, and fiddle music and improvisation. ~I invite my students to send me recordings in between lessons to help keep motivation and momentum up (at no additional cost). I’m happy to teach you virtually from anywhere in the world. If you’re in the Washington DC area, I would love to teach you in person! I am located in Logan Circle (zip code 20005), or I may be able to travel to your location for an additional fee. I would love to hear from you!

Hello! My name is Kevin, and I am looking forward to teaching you everything I know about music! I've been singing at Walt Disney World for over 22 years with the Voices of Liberty, the Dapper Dans of Main Street, and Four For A Dollar. I have a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Penn State University. Even more than singing, playing the guitar, arranging for a cappella, and playing piano, I love to teach! Ever since I was a sophomore in high school, I've wanted to be a teacher of music in various capacities. My favorite aspect of teaching several private students each week is that every individual student has a different story. What is it that you want to accomplish? Would you like to sing, play piano or play guitar? Would you like training in music theory? Do you want to eventually have a career in music? Will this be a hobby for you? Whatever your goals are, I am excited to know your story.

Hello! I am a singer and teacher in Florida! I have been singing for two decades and have sung in the US and in Europe. I have my Master of Music degree from Louisiana State University (2020) and my Bachelor of Music degree from Stetson University (2016), both in Vocal Performance. I was an Adjunct Voice Professor at Stetson University, where I taught college level students, but I have taught students from the ages of 5 all the way to 80 years old. I balance pursuing an opera career while maintaining my voice studio. While I primarily sing and teach classical singing, I can also teach musical theatre, jazz, and other genres. My goal as a teacher is to find your most authentic voice in the healthiest way possible so you can sing anything- for the rest of your life! What differentiates me from other teachers is that I know what HEALTHY singing looks and sounds like and I will work each lesson make sure you can reach your goals. *Due to Covid-19, I am currently only offering online lessons*
