What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At CAS Construction and Renovations. We offer a military & first responder discount for your home renovation projects. Give us a call & ask us if you are eligible for this generous discount. At CAS Construction and Renovations, we strive to remain very competitive within our local region on pricing. While we aren’t the cheapest GC in town, we aren’t the most expensive either. While we all would like the best possible deal out there. You want to take the time to think about what corners a contractor may be cutting to be able to offer a job so cheap when an estimate comes in leaps & bounds under all others. As skilled professionals, offering similar work & similar materials. There shouldn’t be large variances in estimates from one to another. While skilled professionals are aware of their value & what it takes. When deciding on your contractor. If it sounds too good to be true. It just might be so don’t necessarily take a bid just because it is the cheapest. If you want & expect a certain level of product & service out of your project & GC. Cost should not be the only factor you are looking at. To offer a high quality finished product to our customers. We only work with highly skilled tradesmen and women who know their jobs, offer great warranties & hold our same values. We would recommend you use a handyman for your handy man type projects and call CAS Construction and Renovations for all of your other project needs that require a skilled hand & professional tradesman.

Dan Velasquez is the owner of CAS Construction and Renovations LLC. While he has personally attended many trade workshops, building green & energy efficient courses as well as completing the “Earth Advantage” sustainability classes. He became a sustainable homes professional through the Earth Advantage Institute in his early construction employment. From there Dan worked for a local builder for over ten years earning very valuable experience overseeing all trades involved in new home construction.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Dan got his start in the construction industry in the early 2000’s. Coming up as an assistant superintendent & learning the trades. Dan eventually became a superintendent overseeing each trade involved in residential home construction. Remaining with this builder for over ten years. He was responsible for overseeing five different subdivisions where the construction of semi custom production homes were built to suit. Dan was part of a team who over saw the construction of 80 to 100 homes per year. It was at this time in life where Dan & his wife took the step into starting their own business. They began working with investors who put up the capital & they would find older homes needing a little love & would breathe some life back into them. Bringing homes that otherwise were at the end of their road, back to life. Realizing the original charm they once boasted! They built a business. We were a licensed & Bonded company basically working for ourselves in an investment capacity & it was in 2013-14 when we began accepting work from everyday homeowners who wanted the services we provided. It was our love of seeing someone else’s visions in collaboration with ours come to life that sparked our passion to continue helping homeowners to update their homes. Utilizing our skills & the valued relationships with the many other skilled tradesmen that we have worked with over the years. We have continued to help realize our customers visions & see them come to life. One successful renovation at a time.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
One of the most important areas of a project that a customer should think about is their budget. What will you need. What are you comfortable spending and is it enough. You should make sure you have a budget for whatever it is you plan to do, including a little additional in case you run into those little surprises that seem to pop up. Sometimes things come up during major renovations. A lot of times customers want to add additional items to their scope as the project progresses. So as a customer getting ready for some home improvements. Make sure you have the budget, think about what your living situation will look like as certain areas may cause small inconveniences to your everyday living situation. Also, If updating your kitchen. Think about how long you can handle being without your physical kitchen. Will you remain in the home during construction? Where can you stage your refrigerator if so? How long will all of this take? These are all great things to think about and communication you should be having with your GC when considering a home renovation.
