Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have a minimum 2 hour trip charge on most on-site projects and on-site service calls. Remote Service Calls are only charged per hour.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to discuss the project with the customer in person or on the phone, especially for some bigger projects like wiring your house or business, security cameras, home theaters, etc. Once I have a solid idea of what the customer wants I put together a quote/estimate for the project and send it over to the client and we set the date for installation or if it involves buying equipment I let them know when we have everything in hand for the project and then we schedule a start date. For smaller projects, like TV mounting or running 1 new coaxial line for internet, it typically is a few questions through the Thumbtack app and deciding on what time and date works best for everybody.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I went to college for Audio Production and Engineering in Minneapolis, MN and once out of college I worked at a few different recording studios in town and eventually got into the Audio/Visual Installation Industry with a company that sent me around the country installing and wiring up Buffalo Wild Wing Restaurants, Trampoline Parks, Planet Fitness, Lifetime Fitness, etc. I then moved on to an Twin Cities based company that had me in charge of the installations of A/V Systems in new multi-million dollar apartment buildings.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
After working in some recording studios in the Twin Cities, I decided I wanted to find something that was a little more steady as far as hours go so I found a job that still had something to do with music and something that some of my skills could transfer over too. It turned out to be a really good thing.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with a lot of home owners and small business owners as well as managers and administrators for other businesses.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I did a home theater in the unfinished basement of a home in Blaine, MN. It was a Dolby Atmos setup (7.4.4) with 7 surround speakers, 4 atmos speakers, and 4 subwoofers that I used DSP and measurements to sync together. It turned out really well and sounded out of this world. I also added some acoustic absorption and a little diffusion to really make the sound system sound its best. The whole project from start to finish took a few months but my part of it took about four 8 hour days, so 32 hours.0

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would say look for me. haha
