What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing for a band is a bit of a mystery for most clients because hiring live entertainment for most people is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Doc Rock-It has a flexible fee schedule ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 per event. We are flexible in working with clients to do our best to accommodate their specific budget. When preparing a price quote, we must take into consideration several factors, including but not limited to how long the band is needed to play, what type of travel expenses we have to incur in order to get to the gig, and the number of performers that are needed to do the performance properly. As such, each client has a specific set of circumstances that we have to discuss in advance in order to provide an appropriate bid.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We respond very quickly both by email and with follow up calls to ensure that the client knows that we are available and would like to discuss their specific needs so that we can tailor our pricing to mee their needs. After agreeing on the basic terms, we furnish the client with a performance contract that stipulates all the necessary terms for the event. Once the client has signed the contract and paid the deposit, the booking is completed!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our band members are constantly listening to a wide variety of music to come up with suggested songs to add to our repertoire.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

All for the love of rock, soul, jazz, funk, hip hop, contemporary pop, and everything danceable!

What types of customers have you worked with?

Doc Rock-It has become the "go to" band for clients who want to have a fantastic birthday party, a throw-down wedding reception, or jammin' corporate event.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Our band had the honor of performing a private party in Beverly Hills, CA on 12/31/13 during which rock and roll legends Johnny Tillotson (who had a number 1 hit in 1961 "Poetry in Motion") and Tommy Roe (who reached the top 10 in 1962 with "Sheila" and in 1969 with "Dizzy") joined the band on stage.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When choosing live entertainment, we recommend that clients look at customer satisfaction before price. Clearly, getting a great deal on the cost of a band is very important, however the old adage "you get what you pay for" really holds true with bands. Most bands that charge bargain basement prices offer bargain basement service, poor performance, and low quality professionalism. Check the band's reviews online to see what clients have said about whether the band was "easy to with with." Bands that are rated positively in this category will make your experience exponentially more enjoyable for you and your guests.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
