Introduction

We have two things to offer: 1- Live music with our band, the Studio O Rhythm Section- called one of the most versatile bands around (anything from a solo pianist, to a 9 piece ensemble with a horn section, - depending on your desires and budget). 2- Lessons- private, personal and professional music instruction from beginner through intermediate and beyond. I (Mike) teach drums and percussion. My wife (Becca) teaches piano and our son (Michael) teaches bass guitar We have multiple years of music education, experience in instruction, accompaniment, and performance.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
$25.00 per lesson ~ 30 minutes. We offer family discounts if you have more than one person in a family taking lessons. Ask us about group lessons if you are interested in that too.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First off, we find out what a new student's current level of musical ability is. Then we find out what the student wants to learn and go from there.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Rebecca has played and taught piano for over 40 years. She emphasizes reading and theory at every level. She is also a credentialed teacher with 2 decades experience in the classroom. Mike ((drums) has played semi professional for 40 years and has taught off and on throughout that time. Michael (bass guitar) minored in music at CSUB and plays a variety of styles with a deep understanding of music and theory. The three of us perform regularly, whether together with our band Studio O Rhythm Section, or with other musicians. (You can often catch us Tuesday nights at the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop).

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Sharing our music and how we do it is a natural extension of playing it.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All levels and all ages... Beginners to intermediate and beyond. From as young as 5 to as young as 75!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
The 3 of us often play together at local restaurants and various venues. But we also have a full band together (with other musicians- guitar, trumpet, sax, trombone) called the Studio O Rhythm Section. We play jazz, blues, Americana, classic/soft rock, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, ballads, country, R&B, and Latin. We are available for private parties, weddings, corporate and public events, fund raisers or social gatherings.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Every music teacher has something to offer. But not every teacher is a good fit for every student. Our goal is to educate, motivate, cultivate, inspire, challenge and encourage.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What do you hope to gain? What would you like to do? How can we best help you achieve your goals?
