Introduction

Play the violin with ease, freedom, and joy then apply it to classical, bluegrass, blues, and jazz. Find your own sound and share it. Private and group lessons are offered as well as opportunities to play for peers. Many of my students have performed as concertmasters, band leaders, soloists, and ensemble players in all musical styles.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I use the freedom of motion principles of violin & string playing based on the teachings and research of Paul Rolland and Shinichi Suzuki.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold a Masters Degree in String Pedagogy and served on the faculty of North Carolina School of Arts, Salem College in N Carolina. I’m currently Music Director at Mission Dolores Academy String Program, San Francisco and Violin Faculty of Crowden Music Center, Berkeley.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I’ve always enjoyed teaching. A violin professor encouraged me to continue studying to help others.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with prenatal to 90 year olds including those with body tension and injuries. My adult students include both music and non-music professionals as well as retired seniors.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

A professional fiddler came with carpal tunnel and tendonitis. After working on correct alignment pain disappeared. Also taught a one-week intro violin class where beginners with no previous experience performed successfully after four days.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be receptive to personal change, growth and musical awareness
