Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Multiple student rate considered upon request for 2 or more students in a family, back to back lessons

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Student audition and interview in some cases.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Many honors and scholarships in violin and piano. Completed all levels of Certificate of Merit (“CM”) including Panel in violin and piano, and went on to Honors. A manga cum laude masters degree in music with emphasis is violin performance. I started violin when I was 5 and piano at 7, and won my first competition at age 11. I’ve played for over 34 years. I can teach you to play very well, talented or not, as long as you are willing to put in the daily work time and effort.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Children, adults, seniors, teens, college students

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Learning the violin is not easy, especially if you take the time to find a good teacher and learn it the right way. Many teachers let their students slip through the cracks and don’t teach them correct form, intonation, vibrato, or how to practice well. So make sure you look for a teacher with integrity, preferably a degree in violin, and a track record. Not just the cheapest or closest. Learning violin incorrectly will either make you not enjoy violin, lead you to injury, or just never allow you to play your instrument well. I will never put undue pressure, but only enough so you will feel a challenge to be your best.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How much effort and time you put into daily practicing your assignments will determine how well you play and how fast you learn the violin or piano. It takes a minimum of 5 years or more to play an instrument even sort of well.
