Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I love what I do and I charge a fair and competitive fee that I believe is a great value. Just a week ago I was performing for a wedding and at the end of the event the bride handed me a check for the final balance due. When I went to cash it I looked down and realized the bride had wrote, "The best money I spent on my wedding," at the bottom of my check. She made my day and much, much more....

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to use a worksheet that lays out all of the possibilities of what I can provide for the event. Then I work with the customer to fine tune those details and custom tailor my services to fit their unique event perfectly.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have my Bachelor Degree in Music and Sound Engineering, 25 years experience in the business, and I have taught Music at the University level for 18 years. I have a vast understanding of how to perform, compose, and mix music as well as what it takes to properly fill a room with music.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I studied music since I was 8 years old. The day I graduated with my degree in music, was the day I turned professional.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have perform from the colleges of California to the pubs of Ireland. I have performed at Red Rocks Amphitheater and performed live on air in KBCO's renown Studio C. I have performed for many high profile clients from Michael Jordan and John Elway to Guinness and Johnny Walker from Vice president Al Gore to John Denver. Some of my favorite customers are the brides and grooms I get to work with to play my part in making their special day absolutely perfect.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Most recently I performed a concert at the University of Colorado. During the concert I put down the guitar and bagpipes to pick up the Irish Drum called the Bodhran. I drummed and sang some amazing traditional Irish songs. This is something I have only just begun to work on and very new to me, so it was really scary but really rewarding! What a rush... The audience loved it and it was an absolutely awesome gig.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look at their experience and listen to their music. That is the first test. Next look at how prompt they are to respond and their enthusiasm about your job.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Customers should brainstorm a clear description of their event and a clear picture of the type of vibe they are going for. This will greatly help the professional lend their experience and expertise to contribute their ideas and know how to pull off the perfect event.
