Introduction

Introduction: Want to add some classy jazz to your next event? We love jazz songs by artists like Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Duke Ellington, and Thelonious Monk, along with standards from the Great American Songbook. We'll add a touch of sophistication and class to your event that your guests will be talking about for years. I can also work with you to customize the band for your event. Instruments include saxophone, trumpet, piano (or keyboard), guitar, acoustic bass, drums, and vocals. Note: if you are looking for smooth jazz (Kenny G), pure blues music (BB King) pop music (Stevie Wonder), or straight R+B we are not going to be a good fit for you. However, if you're looking to add just the right touch of classy high quality jazz, performed by some of the best professionals in the Tampa Bay area, we're your band!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our band is called an "ensemble" because the number of performers can vary from one to a larger group depending on the budget of the client. We take the time to find out what the client can afford and create a group that can create the musical effect they're seeking within what they can afford.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We interview the client to find out what type of event they are planning, and whether the entertainment should be background or featured. Sometimes there are specific song requests that are needed, or the client may need help with announcements. We do our best to provide overall support for the goal of the client, which is to have a successful event, by providing the exact music they're seeking.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our band is composed of seasoned professionals, who have decades of experience in performing at events.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I grew up playing classical piano and always wanted to be able to improvise. As I got older, I started taking lessons in jazz piano and in 1998 started performing at a restaurant for their Sunday brunch. From there we exploded and have been performing at various events throughout Tampa Bay ever since.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with all sorts of people for many varied events. We've done work for weddings, funerals, corporate award shows, benefits, grand openings, car dealership promotions and many more. One of the fun things about this business is the varied people we've met and the interesting scenarios we've performed in.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Last Saturday night we performed near south of St. Petersburg at a benefit honoring men who worked as mentors for at risk youth. The event was about 2 1/2 hours. We performed in the reception area as people arrived and later performed onstage. Fun and a great cause!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Decide on the type of music you want and find a bandleader that you feel comfortable working with. At the end of the day it is about relationships and delivering precisely what you're looking for to help your event be a success.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How long have you been in operation? How many breaks will you take? Are you willing to make some announcements?
