Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The price displayed is the base price, but factors like the day of the week, time of year, and distance can affect the final quote. For solo performances, my rate is $150 per hour, while duo performances are $200 per hour. Full band performances are negotiable, as they involve additional factors such as equipment and production needs. All necessary equipment, including a professional sound system and lights, can be provided by Nick Muilaert and the Society. This ensures that everything is handled seamlessly, allowing you and your guests to enjoy an exceptional night of live music tailored to your event. We’re here to create an unforgettable experience, no matter the size or style of your celebration.”

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The typical process for working with clients starts with ensuring I can provide 100% service to your event. We’ll go over all the necessary details, like confirming there’s power available for my equipment and taking care of any other logistical aspects. Next, I’ll want to know what type of music will set the tone for your event. What artists or songs will get you and your guests in a good mood? Which tunes bring back great memories? I have a vast repertoire to cater to any vibe, but I’ve found that clients really connect with the event when the music is personal to them. If you’re unsure, don’t worry—I’m happy to help guide you. I do ask that any specific song requests be provided at least 48 hours before the event, so I have time to learn them properly. Once we’ve nailed down the details, it’s time for me to deliver the perfect performance for your event!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
“I have over a decade of performing at every type of event imaginable, both as a solo artist and with a band. This extensive experience has honed my skills and made me a true professional in every aspect of my work. In addition to my performance experience, I’ve trained with some of the most highly regarded vocal and guitar instructors in the country to constantly improve my craft. Established vocal trainer Juliana Caymmi, daughter of Brazilian legend Dorival Caymmi, has provided me with world-class vocal training, while award-winning blues guitarist Predrag Petrovic has helped me refine my guitar technique. My training, combined with my experience, allows me to deliver the highest standard of performance with quick setup times, proper sound quality, constant vocal and guitar refinement, and the organization needed to ensure everything runs smoothly

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got started in this profession at 12 years old, performing Christmas songs in front of a Best Buy. It was my first taste of connecting with an audience, and it sparked a lifelong passion for live music. Since then, I’ve flourished and grown as a musician, always bringing passion, dedication, and love to every performance. Each gig is an opportunity to share my journey and continue evolving in this craft I’ve loved for so long.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve had the privilege of working with every type of customer and event you can imagine, from elegant cocktail parties for large companies to intimate and emotional anniversary celebrations, which are some of my personal favorites. My experience spans performing at iconic venues like Metro, Cubby Bear, and Barstool River North, as well as private events across the Midwest. I’ve entertained a wide range of audiences, from young children to seasoned music enthusiasts, tailoring my performances to fit each unique occasion. Whether it’s setting the perfect tone for a low-key gathering with smooth background music, getting guests dancing at a lively celebration, or even playing Christmas carols at fundraisers and company parties, I pride myself on creating memorable experiences. I’ve also been hired for events where the focus was holiday jazz, classic rock, or versatile cover sets, showcasing my ability to adapt to different styles and atmospheres. No matter the size or theme of the event, I’m committed to making each performance special for my clients and their guests

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My advice would be to look for a provider who offers more than just a service—they should provide an experience. Any musician or DJ can play at an event, but a true professional will elevate it to another level. You’re not just paying for quality; you’re investing in an experience that creates lasting memories for your guests and significantly enhances the atmosphere of your event. Live music brings a unique energy and warmth that a phone playing Spotify simply can’t replicate. It’s that special touch that makes every event more memorable and cheerful.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Customers should consider a few key factors before reaching out to professionals. First, think about the repertoire you’d like to hear—are there specific genres, artists, or songs that would resonate with your guests? Providing this information helps us tailor the performance to create the perfect atmosphere. Additionally, consider the length of the performance. For vocalists, performances longer than six hours are generally not feasible due to the strain it can place on the voice. Having a clear idea of how long you’d like the music to last will help us plan breaks and ensure the quality of the performance remains top-notch throughout your event. Lastly, details like the event setup, venue space, and access to power are all helpful to know ahead of time to make the experience as seamless as possible for everyone involved.
