Also, if you are not sure, you can come see us live in Boston Free, playing outdoors every Sunday at 630pm during Sunset. Now, this is with a full band. But we can arrive as a solo piano playing background music or as a duo with a singer and violin doing wedding procession, or we can play very lively Jazz or R&B as well. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Basically during this busy season. it's $250/ hour for first hour per musician, then $125/hour per musician. Plus travel expenses( if there any). So basically as an example, a one hour gig for me playing solo piano would be $250. A two hour solo piano gig would be $375. A one hour gig for a Jazz Trio would be, $700, but then 2 hours would be $975. If there is significant traveling, that would have to worked out as well. But there are times when these rates can be flexible. For instance the weekends right now are extraordinarily busy, but Mon,Tues,Wed, and Thurs, aren't t so bad, so we could work out cheaper rates.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

An introductory text or two or three. Then phone calls to work out what my client might need, then formalize the details, set the date and times, and arrangement for a deposit, and schedule the date, and confirm with an email. Then show up for the gig with all the arrangements pre planned. Finish the gig with everybody happy 😊.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Private Piano lessons for years, then Berklee college of Music, and New England Conservatory of Music. I am also trained in Sound engineering and recording.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Well; I started out in music school, at Berklee College of Music, and New England Conservatory of Music, or actually much earlier I started playing Piano at 6 years old. With many starts and stops, but ultimately, I just keep coming back to the only thing that makes me happy, and makes other people happy as well, and that's playing music.. Its a gift and an honor to be able to play music, mainly to share that gift with other people.

What types? The only type of client I want are very happy types!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Oh just check out "Nick Presents Sunset Series" on Google. It's ongoing right now every Sunday at Sunset. My band and myself play to the park every Sunday at Sunset around 6pm. Its free and everybody in my neighborhood enjoys it..

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

A one sentence all encompassing piece of advise to any client would be: Try to make sure all the details are worked out in advance.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

A client's needs aren't just about the musician they hire. One needs to have thoughts on the placement of the musicians, for instance is there a power need, where are electrical outlets, and what attire you might suggest the musicians wear. An understanding of volume levels, payment options, like form of payment etc, where does one load gear in and load out. Parking; whos paying for the parking? Is there food; length of set lists . I have a checklist I provide to help clients with these needs.
