Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Each situation and event, in my eyes, is different and should be treated as such. My approach to pricing is to talk with each prospective client and come up with a pricing situation that works for everyone.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to find out what each customer has in mind for their own personal vision. Whether that be through a phone conversation, an in-person meeting, or simply an email explanation, the more I know about the person or event I'm looking to provide entertainment for, the easier it is to put my experience to work for them, creating a custom game-plan that everyone can get excited about.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I've been a pianist, singer, bandleader, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist for over 20 years. I've played music with bands of all genres and styles of music from eras spanning the 1920's to the 2000's. I've traveled the country and many parts of the world playing music and have learned from everywhere I've been and everyone I've played with. I'm a self-taught musician who specializes in jazz, blues, soul, swing, rock, contemporary, Motown, classic rock, oldies, and more. Diversity and the ability to listen has made me the player I am today.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started playing professionally when I was just 17 years old, but music has been my life for as long as I can remember. Both of my parents were pianists, and I have many family members on both sides who play music and sing; some have even done it professionally, as well.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I like to say, I've played events and occasions of all shapes, sizes and styles in venues to match. I've done everything from intimate, living room birthday parties to wedding venues to music festivals, and even arenas. I work most often with couples planning their weddings, corporate-style events and charity events. As I stated above, I thoroughly enjoy playing weddings and private events because I get to work closely with the customer, taking their vision and bringing it to life to make it a truly unique and memorable experience. Some of my past clients in the corporate world include Mercedes Benz, The Michigan Humane Society, Toyota, Karmanos Cancer Institute, Signature Flight Services, The Michigan Friend of the Court, and many more.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
All of my projects are enjoyable in their own ways.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My advice would be to work with someone who is professional, knowledgeable, experienced and has an overall good personality that meshes well with your own. It's always much more fun to work with someone you get along with and who is open to your own personal vision.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I'm here to answer any and all questions you may have. Many folks have a complete vision in mind when they come to me, and many have a complete blank slate and need much more guidance. I'm happy to put all of my years of experience to work for you, helping you realize the complete vision for your event.
