Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My per hour is $150 to $350. The price depends on complexity of the performing service. For example: if that is a wedding ceremony or a cocktail hour that require light to moderate difficulty background music, then it is $150 to $250 per hour of the service. If the customer would like to have a concert-like event when I perform solo and virtuoso program which requires serious preparation, then it is charged higher and up to $350. Musicians like myself invest considerable amount of time for practice and preparation and that is part of the fee and knowing that can help the customer to be certain that I am going to be doing maximum work for them.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always ask in detail what customer's needs and vision are for their event. I listen to their ideas and suggest options. I am consistently in touch with the customer to define what has to be prepared for their event. There is a contract that a customer and myself sign and that is a description of what my service is and what my responsibilities are and what kind of payment is decided.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a concert violinist with extensive performing and educational background. I perform solo and as a part of chamber ensembles. I am honored to serve as a concertmaster of the Livonia Symphony Orchestra and play with many other orchestras of Metro Detroit area. I have Doctorate degree in violin performance and I am a recording artist on Blue Griffin label. My CD "Schumann's Enigma" is internationally recognized.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My professional performing career started decades ago, however I do violin performing for small and large private and official events for the last 15 years.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I was hired to perform with Canadian group "Heart" at the Cesar in Windsor and I have extensive experience playing at weddings and wedding receptions and church services. I enjoy performing for wedding proposals, making funeral memorials special and filled with soothing sounds of music, playing at birthday celebrations, bat-mitzvah and bar-mitzvah events and also at middle-eastern weddings. At times I am invited to perform a solo or a chamber private recital. There was an occasion when an auto company invited me to perform at their Christmas party.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I performed at a wedding reception which had a few customized parts. I had to plan a theatrical act where I was playing "Perfect by Ed Sheeran" to greet three Flower Girls walking towards me and stage. I also scheduled a rehearsal with bride and groom to work out their slow dance that I accompanied them by playing violin solo "A Thousand Years". I had to buy music and arrange it for the solo violin and that was fun. I had discovered that I had to bring an amplifier due to my research and preparation. My hypothesis was correct and amplified violin sounded fantastic. There were lots of communications between me and bride and the result was stunning. The project was scheduled roughly three weeks before the date of the event and I was booked for an hour and for an additional hour of the rehearsal time with overtime

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would like to suggest to check the performing and educational background of the person you are interested in. Social medias such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook and Youtube may give you good information. Talking to the provider is a next step as that will show you how much the performer might be willing to do for you and how the performer can seek solutions to make your event the most memorable and beautiful and also minding your budget.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The customer should have a vision of their event in regard of using a performer and also should be aware of his/her budget that is assigned to pay for the event. If the customer is not sure, it is all right to approach the provider as a professional and skilled performer will advise and help to define what can be created and for how much.
