We’ll energize your event with our toe-tapping takes on your favorite covers. Strummin&Drummin plays multiple genres including rock, pop, soul, country and jazz, with something for everyone. We can blend these styles to cover a broad range of musical tastes or dive deeply into one or two genres if preferred by the client. Whether you’re planning a corporate event, private party, or special occasion, S&D will work closely with you and your team to ensure the music matches the ambiance you’re looking for. Since 2020, we’ve been barnstorming the DMV, playing to growing audiences at wineries, country clubs, corporations and private homes. We can easily scale up to a trio or quartet by adding bass, guitar, and even saxophone for bigger settings. Don’t settle for a cookie cutter band at your next event. They can play just about any genre and appeal to folks from all generations with their friendly, easygoing style. Highly recommended” - Jad A. (anniversary event).

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our pricing is straightforward. In general our minimum duo fee is $500, making us more affordable than full bands. We do have close collaborators (including an extraordinary sax player among other occasional partners) that can be added to the band if the setting calls for a bit more instrumentation.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
It mostly comes down to close coordination with the event planner, before, during and after the event. We listen very attentively to our customers — and the audience — to ensure we are meeting and exceeding expectations.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have taken performance and theory courses at the renowned Berkelee School of Music and studied percussion intensively with percussion masters in college. We gig regularly across the DMV region, in many different settings, which also helps to keep us tight and sharp musically.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have been playing music for 3 decades, including a years-long apprenticeship with a Berkelee-trained master percussionist. Over the years I have integrated many types of percussion into the ‘Strummin&Drummin shows, including congas, djembe, cajon, and shakers, giving our sound a signature groove that audiences love.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Corporations, private parties, breweries, wineries, hotels, country clubs, special events

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We played at a 50 year birthday event recently, bringing the energetic crowd onto the dance floor for nearly three hours

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure the band can play your favored genres. Some are narrowly focused on one genre or another, or just one era but struggle outside their immediate comfort zone. We have always played a broad range of styles to broaden our appeal, but also because we genuinely enjoy them!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have they performed this kind of event of music before; what relevant experience do they bring to the table; how are the reviews and live video footage?
