Introduction

—————— Greetings and Welcome! I highly encourage your fastest reply for services directly, by texting my cell or requesting a call. And for house-call lessons outside of piano and voice which I don’t provide, I have a referral program with other instructors :). Ask me about In-Person & Virtual Lessons, Live Music, My Event and Rehearsal Space!! **My new studio is now behind my house, in the backyard!!** It is stocked for safety and convenience with parking and a waiting gazebo. Moki is a sweet, friendly cat, like a greeter! But there is no way to remove him totally. So if you are allergic or afraid, please consider another studio. All brand-new clients must pay ahead to reserve time. But you may begin at any time that works for all. We recommend 4, 8 or 12+ week packages of study. We follow the Charleston County School schedule, closed for holidays and breaks, except select Summer weeks. **Our schedule is open to all, but seems especially amenable to: work-day lunch breaks, alternate shift-worker, self-employed, standard schooled, home-schooled and college/grad student, being we are mostly Mondays-Thursdays, 9am-6pm. Thanks.** With a piano and voice background, I teach and perform almost any genre in Charleston, SC! I love teaching all ages. My studio houses a Yamaha upright piano, electric pianos, drums, guitars, and more! Open for lessons, rehearsal space and event hosting!! Located near downtown, and a close walk from Folly Road’s Windermere plaza, (with Staples, EarthFare, eateries and more). **Lessons are limited to my studio and virtual, and no longer in your homes since Covid.** We also offer guitar and music theater lessons through other instructors. Outside the home studio, we sing, play piano, other instruments, and DJ events up to 150 people and more, at a high level, with fine equipment to ensure your event is a success! Besides soloing, I also have 2 bands, Bliss (wedding) and Inspiration (gospel) groups for hire. **Please keep in mind: my pricing includes the hours of work outside your actual event.** If you need any of these services, it is fastest to send me, Jo, a direct text to my cell, specifying how I can help you! Hope to hear from you soon! - Ms. Jo, Homeworks Studio 😀🎵👏🏽

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Most often, a potential client and I will meet to discuss his or her goals prior to booking packages of lessons and/or live events. (This way, many questions can be answered ahead of time.) If you decide to hire me, you pay in packages.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I studied music and business at the Bachelors of Arts level. And I constantly learn tips online and take master classes and so forth as often as I can afford them.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have been working in music all of my life. I studied piano and voice privately for many years, now teaching and performing live music of all sorts. I am humbled at the task of making a living from what I love.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with people from all cross-sections of life. The love of music is very broad. I understand this and believe music is for everybody.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My most recent favorite project has been building the studio, gazebo and redoing the yard. Though very stressful and costly, it has been good to create a professional space and reclaim my home. It’s taken all year of 2024 to complete!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Figure out what your goals are and how committed you are to them. Then stay connected (in touch), whether or not you decide to work with me! :)

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The vast majority of their successes will depend on how much they are willing to practice or prepare. A teacher's role in music varies from 20-50%.
