Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Price I quote is all-inclusive including all equipment, preparation, travel and setup time. Discount for active military and emergency service personnel (Police, Fire, EMT)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I work closely with my clients to find out and deliver exactly what they need and want. I am always available to talk about any details or changes.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
The Happiness Band consists of a roster of some of the best musicians and vocalists in Nashville - and that is saying something! Our musicians have worked and toured and recorded with some of the top entertainers in Nashville and beyond. Each musician is a seasoned professional well versed in the style being sought.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've been performing in front of audiences all my life. I started playing in coffee shops and restaurants when I was in college and then started getting asked to play at friends' weddings and such. Once I moved to Hollywood I expanded into doing work in the recording studio and doing live performances with bands and vocal groups. The next step was a stint as Music Director on a Cruise Ship where I expanded my repertoire to any style needed. Now I have a repertoire of over 1500 songs from the early 1900s to present day in most styles including rock, jazz, blues, country, latin, reggae, folk, standards, show tunes and even children's songs. Plus special programs for Holidays and special events such as Mardi Gras, St Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, 4th of July, Halloween and Christmas. I also have duos, trios and combos available.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Anyone who needs music! Brides and grooms, corporate clients, private individuals, families, restaurants, country clubs, singers and other musicians seeking backing instruments, record producers, Event and party planners, Wedding Coordinators, band leaders, choir directors, booking agents and managers.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A few months back I played a wedding reception. The groom had a sister and cousin that he wanted to have sing during the reception dinner so I learned the songs they wanted to do in addition to the other requests he had. It was a beautiful out door setting. I set up my sound system to cover a fairly large area, including setups for the girls. They were really talented and it was a pleasure to play for them. I took cues from conversations I had with members of the wedding party to surprise them with favorite songs they had mentioned. A great time was had by all.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be sure you are dealing with a professional. Someone can be a great musician with a great sound but if they seem uninterested, are late, don't learn the material, dress slovenly, etc. then you won't get what you want.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Don't scrimp on the music budget and never ask anyone to play for free, or for beer or for "exposure". This is a business and a profession and how we make our living. I have been playing music professionally for 40 years and I still work at it every day. You may find people who will play for less, but you will get what you pay for.
