Desert Heartstrings (formerly The Fab Folk) are the husband-wife folk rock duo of Jake and Melissa Haws from Springville, Utah. Their music centers around tight vocal harmonies and playing a variety of folk instruments, including acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica, mandolin, kick drum, tambourine, and cajon, as well as incorporating live “loop pedal” recordings into their performances. The duo put their folk rock touch on arranging classic songs by the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Neil Young, as well as modern artists like Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, The Lumineers, Jason Mraz, The White Stripes, and Imagine Dragons. They have performed all across the Rocky Mountain region, including appearances at the Utah Arts Festival, America’s Freedom Festival at Provo, Escalante Canyons Arts Festival, Utah County Fair, Box Elder County Fair, Orem Summerfest, Tooele Arts Festival, Ogden Cherry Days, Rimrock Summer Jam, Deer Valley Resort, Alta Resort, Snowbasin Resort, Park City Mountain Resort, The Grand America Hotel, Thanksgiving Point, Homestead Resort, Zermatt Resort, and Park City TV. Their mellow yet upbeat sound will delight audiences of all ages, from older adults who remember many of these songs growing up, to youth who recognize the current music of today. As one client put it, “It was hard not to sing along or move around while listening to The Fab Folk! Highly recommended for any type of event!”
