Introduction

I provide music in Acoustic and Classical Guitar for venues such as wedding ceremonies, corporate functions, community events, wedding receptions, anniversary parties, birthday parties/ celebrations, Christmas parties, New Year's Eve parties, etc. Regardless of whether it's a wedding ceremony, a corporate function, or you need the right ambience for a wedding proposal to your longtime girlfriend you can't go wrong with my services. If you need something to get everyone in a good mood we can have "Wonderful tonight" by Eric Clapton, or maybe Richard Marx's "Waiting for you". If you would like something soothing in Spanish, why not Mana's "Bendita tu luz", or Eros Ramazotti's "Cosa mas bella que tu". Now if you're just seeking something instrumental then we could have either "Greensleeves", or maybe even Pachelbel's "Canon in D". It's all up to you. I love entertaining people with music. I love being the backbone of the entertainment ambience. I enjoy providing the background music at a party, a wedding reception or what have you. I feel like it's my calling.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My rate will be affected by factors such as distance of travel, returning customers, just to name a few. Along the lines of travel, if your venue is within the Hampton Roads area then there will be "no travel fee". Now along the lines of a "returning customer", the rate for a returning customer will not be the same as a brand new customer: it will be lower. For example if I was to get hired for a two-hr gig just once, the hourly rate I'd charge ($95.00/hr) would be higher than I'd charge if I was hired for 2-hrs per week for a month (would probably charge less than $80.00/hr in this case). We can discuss other deals too.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I find out all the details about the venue besides just the time and place. I need to know, will I need amplification for the venue? If the venue is going to house more than 15 or 20 people then the answer is yes, and then I'll need to bring my amp. Second, if I need my amp, is electricity readily available? Where is the closest outlet to where I'm going to be playing? These are just a few questions that I have before we even get started and there are many more later on in the process of me providing a seamless entertainment service for your venue.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have no formal training in my background. What I do have is over 18 years of experience playing at wedding ceremonies, corporate functions, wedding receptions, cocktail hours, anniversary dinners, etc.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got started while at the twilight of my Active Military (Navy) career. I've always wanted to venture into music and it started as a pass time when in 2006 I joined Gigmasters and have been with them since. And now I've decided to start here in Thumbtack.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with brides, brides to-be, grooms, grooms to-be, husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, siblings, event planners and they were always satisfied with my services.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Late summer beach wedding at oceanfront of Virginia Beach, Virginia, the weather was beautiful that day and I provided musical entertainment for the bride and groom during the ceremony and afterwards provided the music for their dance together. It was a memorable day and I'm sure they enjoyed every minute of it. That is what I'm there for.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure you are ok on the list of songs the musician can and will play for your venue. Take a look at the feedback from past clients to make sure you're dealing with a reputable musician.
