Hello! I’m Coach Eugene and I am a professional swim coach and licensed paramedic. The water is my second home- I swim almost every day.
My lessons are a fun and entertaining hands-on class which I've developed from swimming and teaching my entire life.
Helping others is my lifelong passion. Whether it is in the back of an ambulance, on stage & camera, or in a pool. People matter and trade skills are steadily declining! It is a pleasure of mine to be able to teach any age how to swim. Infants to centennials. Swimming is a necessary skill that you will have for your entire life, no matter your physical wellbeing. The water can always be a comfort. And it’s the best exercise for your body.
I also provide training such as swim clinics, coaching for competitive swimmers, open water swimming, endurance swimming for triathlons, military (Navy/SEALs, Airforce, Coast Guard, etc.) and police or SWAT aquatic test training.
"Coach Eugene, why are you more expensive than the other instructors?"
Professional lessons versus amateur lessons speak for themselves. I have been teaching for two decades and I don't just teach swimming- I am an expert swimmer. I understand the psychology behind learning to swim, which only comes from experience. I'm also nationally certified and State licensed as a paramedic. Lesson price is based on the current SoCal rates for private professional swim lessons. My lessons have been rated #1 on Thumbtack for 7 years in a row and I'm the highest rated instructor on the platform. And not to mention... inflation has been hard on all of us.
****Cancellation Policy****
If a lesson is cancelled 24 hours or less before appointment, or a pool is too cold for lessons, a $50 fee will be charged. Giving at least 24 hours notice ensures that someone else has the opportunity to fill your slot. Pools must be around 85ºF or students must have wetsuits.

Working with various athletes over 26 years, and swimming professionally. I can help anyone learning to swim all the way up to Olympic level.
I am an alumni of UC Berkeley, California where I achieved 2x NCAA Division 1 National Championships, 2x American Records, and was a 13x NCAA All American. My success was in swimming 19.9 for my 50 Butterfly, 19.04 for the 50 Free and my 100 Backstroke was 45.45
I have coached around the world, in Holland helped Lia Dekker, a breaststroke (Inge Dekker sister, 100 Record Butterflier) get back on the podium top in the 50,100,and 200 Breastroke events after a life changing miniscus injury. We helped rehabilitate and achieved success within 9 months.
