Please note! I do NOT offer lessons shorter than an hour. Half-hour and 45-minute lessons ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I also don't generally accept children under ten years old unless they're unusually mature for their age and exceptionally talented. The extremely effective approach I use requires working very closely with you. As a result, I only teach ond-on-one live, here in my home studio. Please continue reading below to better appreciate the very high value my approach offers: If you want to free your potential as a singer and let it blossom fully, at Voice Instruction Charlotte you’ll get the understanding and experience you need to do exactly that. I'm an experienced professional singer and instructor. I had the great good fortune to study under a genius who was widely considered in Europe to be one of the few top vocal teachers in the world. I'm standing on the shoulders of a giant. I also worked in audio electronics for years. I understand voice science and how it sheds light on traditional voice teaching. Special techniques help you rapidly develop natural, efficient, and powerful but relaxed, healthy singing. Typical voice teachers understand nothing to very little of the principles and techniques that really work to advance your technique rapidly. The key: strain-free, relaxed skill in the voice itself fully uses the amazing power of breath from your diaphragm and the right adjustment in your vocal anatomy that takes advantage of the laws that govern the optimized production and transmission of sound from your larynx out into the performance venue. You’re freed from vocal strain even on very high notes. You project easily without a microphone. My many past and present students have experienced this for themselves. I work in all major musical genres, including Classical, Blues, Jazz, Scat, Rock and Country. Students range from amateurs to professionals, children ten years old to middle-aged adults and beyond---at all skill levels. We work comfortably, enjoyably with each student to reveal the relatively effortless vocal power and beauty anyone with a normal, healthy vocal anatomy has hidden within. Here at Voice Instruction Charlotte, solid, practical principles help you vastly more than learning a few new songs and pronunciation techniques. Careful observation and guidance helps you greatly improve the way your voice works. Extensive knowledge of the cream of traditional technique and the science behind it makes this possible. You won’t just stop wearing your voice out. You’ll build it with use! Come to Voice Instruction Charlotte to unlock the true power of your natural voice. I look forward to working with you!

25 years in business
I have had an active vocal studio in the Watchung/ Scotch Ppains area for over 25 years, and I have a passion for all forms of vocal expression. I am also a licensed speech-language pathologist working with adults and children in the areas of articulation, apraxia, language and voice disorders. Naturally, I have a particular interest in voice disorders, and I'm an expert in rehabilitating singers and/or speakers with vocal nodules and vocal quality disorders. I'm also active in accent reduction therapy and have a thriving practice in executive speech coaching and public speaking. I am blessed with a musical ear and a gift for languages. I am fluent in four foreign languages such as French, Italian, Dutch and German, and I'm a certified English language teacher for Berlitz. As a young singer, I was a finalist in the Cristina Deutekom International Vocal Competition of The Netherlands, the Munchner Singschule (as part of the Munchner Festspiele) and the International Opera Academy Stuttgart where I was personally chosen by Birgit Nilsson to perform in a variety of operatic concerts throughout Germany. I was also the recipient of a full scholarship for post-graduate studies at the Stuttgart Hochschule fur Musik. I received my B.A. in Voice from Indiana University and my M.A. in Operatic Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, The Netherlands where I appeared on numerous occasions under the baton of Kenneth Montgomery. I was fortunate to have been described as having a "rich and warm timbre, solid technique and incredible vocal stamina" -- the Neuer Merker, Opera in Vienna and the World, Stuttgart edition. Following a series of operatic concerts with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra performed in the Stuttgart Liederhalle, the Baden Baden Kurhaus and the Bavarian National Opera House the critics also kindly referred to me as a "singer personality with extraordinary stage presence, an enormous vocal range, the arias appeared technically effortless and were sung with high musical intelligence" -- Badisches Tagblatt. I have studied with such luminaries as Virginia Zeani, Nicola Rossi-Lemeni, Regina Resnick, Graziella Sciutti, James King, Astrid Varnay, Jane Bunnell, Rita Patane, Carlos Montane, Joan Dorneman, Christina Deutekom, Roberta Alexander, Reinhard Linz, Nico Castel, Werner Stiefel and Heinrich Bender. My clients are executives, authors, lawyers, administrators of major university, singers, motivational speakers, teachers, clergy, stay-at-home moms and people just like you.

Welcome to Emily’s Music Studio! ***PLEASE NOTE: We are an NYC-based voice studio offering VIRTUAL lessons to students across the country, and in-person sessions for those local to NYC. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ I’m Emily Goulazian, founder and guiding spirit of Emily’s Music Studio. As a professional performer and voice teacher, I created this studio with one clear mission: to help singers unlock the full potential of their voice by combining grounded technique with intuitive, expressive freedom. Our studio differs from many others in one key way: we believe that voice training is not just about “sounding better”—it’s about connecting more deeply with yourself. While technique is absolutely essential, it will only take you so far. Singing is a skill developed through procedural learning—consistent repetition and muscle memory—but it’s also a deeply intuitive and human act, born from speech, emotion, and the instinct to communicate. At Emily’s Music Studio, you’ll learn not just how to sing correctly—you’ll learn how to sing honestly. We help singers tap into their natural instincts, work through tension, and access the voice through body awareness, emotional connection, and vocal play. Because when you’re emotionally connected, your voice opens up in ways that technique alone can’t unlock. Whether you’re just starting out, coming back after a break, or preparing for a professional career, we meet you exactly where you are. Our goal is to help you feel confident, free, and fully expressed through your voice. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ 🎵 Our Offerings: Voice (all levels), acting, guitar, songwriting, music theory, career mentorship, audition prep, and more—taught by NYC’s top musicians, vocalists, and actors. Every teacher is handpicked and trained to uphold our high standard of both artistry and empathy. 🌟 What You Can Expect: • Personalized 1:1 attention • Clear, effective vocal technique • Emotional connection and expressive freedom • A supportive, inspiring learning environment • Tools that work with your voice—not against it • Real progress you can feel and hear 💡 Our Promise: World-class instruction tailored to your voice, your goals, and your growth. We’re not just teaching songs—we’re teaching you how to own your voice and fall in love with using it. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Let’s rediscover what your voice is truly capable of. I’d love to offer you a free consultation to see if we’re the right fit. Join Emily’s Music Studio today and experience the difference a connected, intuitive approach can make. Let’s achieve your dreams together—one lesson at a time.
