I have had an active vocal studio in the Watchung/ Scotch Ppains area for over 25 years, and I have a passion for all forms of vocal expression. I am also a licensed speech-language pathologist working with adults and children in the areas of articulation, apraxia, language and voice disorders. Naturally, I have a particular interest in voice disorders, and I'm an expert in rehabilitating singers and/or speakers with vocal nodules and vocal quality disorders. I'm also active in accent reduction therapy and have a thriving practice in executive speech coaching and public speaking. I am blessed with a musical ear and a gift for languages. I am fluent in four foreign languages such as French, Italian, Dutch and German, and I'm a certified English language teacher for Berlitz. As a young singer, I was a finalist in the Cristina Deutekom International Vocal Competition of The Netherlands, the Munchner Singschule (as part of the Munchner Festspiele) and the International Opera Academy Stuttgart where I was personally chosen by Birgit Nilsson to perform in a variety of operatic concerts throughout Germany. I was also the recipient of a full scholarship for post-graduate studies at the Stuttgart Hochschule fur Musik. I received my B.A. in Voice from Indiana University and my M.A. in Operatic Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, The Netherlands where I appeared on numerous occasions under the baton of Kenneth Montgomery. I was fortunate to have been described as having a "rich and warm timbre, solid technique and incredible vocal stamina" -- the Neuer Merker, Opera in Vienna and the World, Stuttgart edition. Following a series of operatic concerts with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra performed in the Stuttgart Liederhalle, the Baden Baden Kurhaus and the Bavarian National Opera House the critics also kindly referred to me as a "singer personality with extraordinary stage presence, an enormous vocal range, the arias appeared technically effortless and were sung with high musical intelligence" -- Badisches Tagblatt. I have studied with such luminaries as Virginia Zeani, Nicola Rossi-Lemeni, Regina Resnick, Graziella Sciutti, James King, Astrid Varnay, Jane Bunnell, Rita Patane, Carlos Montane, Joan Dorneman, Christina Deutekom, Roberta Alexander, Reinhard Linz, Nico Castel, Werner Stiefel and Heinrich Bender. My clients are executives, authors, lawyers, administrators of major university, singers, motivational speakers, teachers, clergy, stay-at-home moms and people just like you.

I am able to bring out the specific vocal timbre of each voice. I don't impose a fixed idea of a "my" sound on anyone. Rather will bring out the uniqueness and beauty of your instrument. I think my students should sing music they love and start to apply the technique right away to get the joy of singing! I am thrilled when a student is able to sing freely and express themselves with ease! My students have gone on to having successful careers in everything from pop, jazz, musical theater to opera.

Welcome to Emily’s Music Studio! ***PLEASE NOTE: We are an NYC-based voice studio offering VIRTUAL lessons to students across the country, and in-person sessions for those local to NYC. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ I’m Emily Goulazian, founder and guiding spirit of Emily’s Music Studio. As a professional performer and voice teacher, I created this studio with one clear mission: to help singers unlock the full potential of their voice by combining grounded technique with intuitive, expressive freedom. Our studio differs from many others in one key way: we believe that voice training is not just about “sounding better”—it’s about connecting more deeply with yourself. While technique is absolutely essential, it will only take you so far. Singing is a skill developed through procedural learning—consistent repetition and muscle memory—but it’s also a deeply intuitive and human act, born from speech, emotion, and the instinct to communicate. At Emily’s Music Studio, you’ll learn not just how to sing correctly—you’ll learn how to sing honestly. We help singers tap into their natural instincts, work through tension, and access the voice through body awareness, emotional connection, and vocal play. Because when you’re emotionally connected, your voice opens up in ways that technique alone can’t unlock. Whether you’re just starting out, coming back after a break, or preparing for a professional career, we meet you exactly where you are. Our goal is to help you feel confident, free, and fully expressed through your voice. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ 🎵 Our Offerings: Voice (all levels), acting, guitar, songwriting, music theory, career mentorship, audition prep, and more—taught by NYC’s top musicians, vocalists, and actors. Every teacher is handpicked and trained to uphold our high standard of both artistry and empathy. 🌟 What You Can Expect: • Personalized 1:1 attention • Clear, effective vocal technique • Emotional connection and expressive freedom • A supportive, inspiring learning environment • Tools that work with your voice—not against it • Real progress you can feel and hear 💡 Our Promise: World-class instruction tailored to your voice, your goals, and your growth. We’re not just teaching songs—we’re teaching you how to own your voice and fall in love with using it. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Let’s rediscover what your voice is truly capable of. I’d love to offer you a free consultation to see if we’re the right fit. Join Emily’s Music Studio today and experience the difference a connected, intuitive approach can make. Let’s achieve your dreams together—one lesson at a time.

With a command of biomechanics and acoustics of vocal production I aim to help students along a path toward functional, effortless and lasting technique. "Technique" can sound scary but I love helping students understand their voice so that they can clearly communicate as an artist! I am jazzed about a holistic approach to performing which is why I incorporate functional breathing and manual manipulation techniques into my sessions for deeper discovery. Certifications & Areas of Study: Vocal Pedagogy | New York University Vocology | NYU Langone Medical Center Functional Breathing Instructor | Oxygen Advantage Walt Fritz | Manual Therapy for Voice and Swallowing Disorders Here's my bio: Philip Skinner has completed extensive training in vocal pedagogy and vocology at New York University with NYU Langone Medical Center and remains active as a flexible performer of classical, CCM and theater music. He has performed at such venues as Rockwood Music Hall, The Duplex Cabaret Theater and Gotham Hall in New York City as well as being a collaborator and back up vocalist for Grammy nominated artist Chandrika Tandon. Some of his favorite music theater roles include Insomina (Dan) at the Workshop Theater, A Funny Thing Happened…(Hysterium) for LOOK musical theater, Mary Poppins (Von Hussler and dance ensemble) for Reagle Music Theater and The Drowsy Chaperone (Robert Martin). He has served as a cantor at Church of the Holy Innocents in midtown Manhattan and is experienced in singing chant and liturgical music. In addition to his private studio he has taught at such places as NYU as adjunct professor of voice, Professional Youth Theater and Musical Arts Center of San Antonio. He currently serves remotely as a Singing Voice Specialist for the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Voice Center and other area otolaryngologists and SLPs.
