Introduction

An accredited college professor, Kyle Brooks offers lessons in saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, music theory, and improvisation. These lessons are custom-tailored to the needs of the pupil, having taught a wide range of students, from small children to adult learners. We will identify your musical aspirations, as well as the areas to improve, so that each lesson serves a specific purpose in realizing your truest potential. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

After a successful trial lesson, I offer lessons at the frequency of the student's needs. This may be weekly, monthly, or a similar format.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold bachelor's degrees in music education and performance, as well as a master's degree in jazz studies. I am currently completing my dissertation in jazz studies in pursuit of a Doctorate of Music from Indiana University. I also offer 10+ years of experience in teaching, recording, composing, and touring across the US and Mexico.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with all types of learners! From small children to adult learners, these lessons are custom-tailored to meet the needs of the learner. Topics can include instrument-specific practices, theory, ear training, improvisation, composition, business, and pedagogy.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently recorded my debut album as a bandleader, set to release in October. This project consists of entirely my own original compositions, and features the musicianship of some of the finest musicians in Chicago.
