I am an energetic pianist who has taught students of all ages and abilities. I strive to create a comfortable atmosphere and relationship with the pupil by balancing all facets of music. I seek to hone the skills of the student at all angles, technical and pedagogical, resulting in a greater overall experience of each piece. I have the unique role that provides an opportunity to present insight and tutelage passed down from previous teachers while still allowing the student to express their own musical thoughts and ideas. I have a doctorate in piano performance and a secondary emphasis in theory; which provides me with a thorough overall knowledge of all genres of music. I always enjoy watching each student grow with each lesson. I enjoy assigning a variety of repertoire conducive to each degree of difficulty, a lyrical selection balanced with an exercise, "etude-like" piece that emphasizes a mastery of finger dexterity. I enjoy the satisfaction of assisting students with developing their communication and emotional skills by giving them chances to perform in recital settings if the opportunity is presented.

I've been a professional musician for over 13 years. I can cater to any audience because I have a song list of over 1400+ songs, and cross most genres (country, pop, rock, sing-songwriter, etc). I've performed at thousands of events including weddings, corporate events, house parties, bars, restaurants, and vineyards. I own a professional sound system that can handle any venue. I have the greatest job in the world because I'm able to support my family doing exactly what I want to do. Performing is my passion. I especially enjoy performing at weddings because there is so much at stake. My job is to make the bride and groom as comfortable as possible from a music perspective. And that is also my goal for every other event I play.

GUITAR LESSONS While teaching, I like to keep things light, yet educational. We start with the basics at a pace tailored for each student. I believe in positivity and encouragement are the key to letting people learn at their own speed while enjoying the process. Music should be fun! My teaching style comes with a with a college degree, a healthy dose of experience after 22 years of playing and 16 years of teaching. I believe learning needs to be fun to get the most out of the experience when beginning or refining a hobby. All styles, ages, and walks of life are welcome. ENTERTAINMENT SERVICES I play 100+ shows a year around the Mid-West as a solo acoustic act, Joshua J Schmidt, and frequently play 2-4 hour sets of originals and a wide variety of unique covers.
