He is professional, attentive and very thorough. His experience and knowledge shows in all aspects of what he does. He really knows the law and what he is doing but what sets him apart is his warmth and understanding of his clients needs. I believe that anything needing an attorney can be stressful but he walked me through each step and made me feel supported the whole way through. He explained every detail and was extremely patient. His pricing was very reasonable especially for the time and attention that he gave to me and my case. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Fair and Flexible! In most cases I charge a flat fee and am open to working out a payment plan. While there are fixed costs that I cannot negotiate, such as the court's filing fees, I'm open to help my clients tailor their fees and payment arrangements to something that works with their finances. I'm committed to creating a feasible and reasonable payment arrangement that will enable a new client to have an experienced and qualified attorney, such as myself, help them through a very important process.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The process begins with a consultation at no upfront cost to the potential client. The consultation can either be done by phone or in person. We'll take the time to confidentially discuss a potential client's situation, goals, and identify various strategies to help them obtain the debt relief they need. We'll formalize the attorney-client relationship if the potential client wants to proceed with representation. During that time we'll discuss our mutual responsibilities to one another, fees/costs, and we'll also work out a payment arrangement if it is necessary for the new client.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I’m always staying current by way of reading up on bankruptcy developments (legislatively/judicially) as well as taking continuing education courses.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I graduated from law school during the financial crisis and I consequently entered the legal profession at a time when there was a widespread need for debt relief. The debt relief came in multiple forms, such as reorganizing so people can get caught up on accrued mortgage arrears by way of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy or the pursuit of a fresh start by way of discharging all of one's debts in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I've worked with all types of clients over the years due to coming from a high volume practice.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I'm very fond of all of my projects, but I'm especially fond of cases where clients get to stop a foreclosure and get a fresh opportunity to cure accrued arrears on their mortgage. I'm also especially fond of cases whereby clients are able to address income tax issues by way of bankruptcy.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Please be careful. The choice of who you choose to work with is very important. You generally have the choice of working with an attorney, a bankruptcy petition preparer, or going at this alone. I generally advise against representing yourself in a bankruptcy. I generally tell people to proceed with caution if they choose to work with a non-attorney bankruptcy petition preparer. A bankruptcy petition prepare may have attractive fees, but they are prohibited from providing legal advice and legal representation. I've been practicing bankruptcy for my entire legal career. I've been involved in thousands of cases over this time and was mentored by a 40+ year veteran who I consider to be the best and most experienced in the business. It was through this deep level of experience that I learned all of the intricacies and nuances of bankruptcy practice. I've witnessed others who claim to practice bankruptcy and hardly know the fundamentals. Bankruptcy can be a wonderful thing for people, giving them light and hope in what seems like an impossible situation. However, you'll need someone that really knows what they're doing on your side. Most importantly, you ought to work with somebody who is acting in your best interests.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Potential clients should consider a number of things when discussing with professionals: 1) Is the business I'm engaging for bankruptcy help a law firm with a responsible attorney or is it a bankruptcy petition preparation outfit? 2) Will I be working with an attorney throughout the course of my case? 3) If the fee seems low in relation to other businesses, why is it so low? 4) What does representation include? What does it exclude?
