Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The second we meet you know you are getting an experienced, educated mixologist. A mixologist who makes her own syrups, tonics, uses only fresh ingredients, my credentials alone is a brand in itself. My company’s name is Affluent Spirits-for people wanting a taste of opulence: Pricing varies from client to client: Bartending rates start at $100/hr, Mixology rates starting at $150/hr. There’s pricing for packages as well. Repeat clients, referrals all receive discounts. I offer payment plans, I am willing to work with you, if you want me behind the bar we will make it happen.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When meeting with potential clients I like to meet in person, that way we can feel each other out, I want you to be able to trust me. I want you to walk away knowing that your beverage program is one less thing you have to worry about. During our consultation we just get to know each other and I help you come up with a plan for your event/special occasion. I operate on a client-to-client basis, what worked for this bride, might not work for this one. As a mixologist I cater the beverage program that represents you.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a multi-state certified mixologist, I graduated Cum Laude with my Associates in Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management. I am a member of Chilled 100-(a global network of industry people) I’m a past squirrel at Camp Runamok-a bartender driven initiative topped with tours and workshops, one of the hardest programs to get into; some people have tried several times and not gotten, I made it through my first try, and now I will be returning as a counselor next year. I also am on track to be certified in Canadian Whisky and Scotch; I mention certifications because not everyone has the opportunity to obtain these, it’s not something you can just look up online, these are courses offered by the Master Distiller themselves. I am consistently learning, constantly creating, anything you could do to enhance your craft, I do. I am one of the most versatile mixologists out there, my knowledge expands beyond one particular spirit, I could never learn enough, I will never get bored. Plus how can you get bored with something you’re in love with, that doesn’t even make sense.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started working at The Brown Hotel and I was shocked when I realized how many people visit Kentucky for bourbon, so I decided to educate myself and that begins my love story with spirits.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
With the versatility in my background in this industry I have clients ranging from CEOs to club promoters. I have serviced bar for celebrities and clients who work a 9-5. I have tended bar at music festivals, poker nights, girls night, repasts, bourbon tastings/pairings. From the novice bourbon lover to the author of a bourbon book.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently completed a Business of Bartending Certification offered by Bacardi through FIU.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Meet with your potential bartender/mixologist in person; it’ll allow you to see the difference between someone who is telling you what you want to hear compared to someone who wants to make you a memory that you will cherish for a lifetime.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is their budget for the beverage program? Do they want to hire a bartender or mixologist? What do they want their beverage program to look like; for example: are you wanting nostalgic keg stand vibes or more of a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills vibe? You should ask the professional why do you think you should hire them. You should ask for their experience with this type of event.
