What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing for Private Events can vary depending on many things. I like to have a free consultation over the phone or in person, so that we can setup the perfect package for the guest and their event. Most catering companies will just charge you by the person as if everyone is going to be drinking and eating. This is not the case for most events. I like to save the customer money by setting up a specialized package.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like the customer to know a little bit about myself and how I got into the industry. I want them to be comfortable with choosing the right person for the job. A phone call or meeting is usually the best. This first meeting or phone call is important for me to see if this is an event I want to take on, as well as the customer making sure I am the right bartender to hire.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

- 10+ years Alcohol Management Certification\ - Spirits Professional recognized by the United States Bartenders Guild. - 20+ years in Customer Service - I currently train bartenders around the midwest through a company called Localbartending.COM

How did you get started doing this type of work?

A Bartender who is very friendly and outgoing, like myself, will usually get asked to do private events throughout their career. I also worked for a bar that had a private loft where weddings were held. That is where I became Head Bartender for private events. Starting my own Private Events company has allowed me to do more with my talents and better my career.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with so many different types of people and many different venues. My favorite type of events are held at outdoor barns,castles and mansions.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I am currently working on a project called "BarDJ". This project allows me to play all the music for an event, while also catering to the bar service for an event. I am looking forward to my first event this year. * I also have been working on a Mobile Bartending unit for my private event. I would like to just pull up to an event and have the bar on wheels.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure the "hire" is interested more in your event than just the amount of money you are willing to pay. Many people are in this industry because it can be "easy", "fast" money. This can also be very helpful because some customers don't really care too much about having a friendly and personable bartender. They just want it handled. I myself focus on the customers overall enjoyment of the event, by providing outstanding personable bartending as well as a strong focus on guest safety.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Make sure that the bar is setup in an area where guests dont get too bunched up. The bar will always be busy at these types of events, but do not make it the focal point. I usually like to be setup across the room from the dance floor or DJ. This allows for more flow. I would highly suggest not doing normal 1.5 ounce pours for any liquor. People will be enjoying themselves for many hours and having a shorter pour for drinks and smaller glasses usually is safe. **Make sure one or more of your bartenders is Alcohol Management Trained.
