Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Hello, my name is Vanessa Lake, thank you for reviewing my page. Please take a look at what is included in your price, If you hire me. I am buying things you do not have to buy. INCLUDED IN YOUR PRICE: 2 hour arrival time for set up. Also, I purchase the LIMES, LEMONS, CHERRIES, and/or complimentary PEANUTS (must request). To ensure these items are at peak freshness and cleaned properly I like to buy, wash & cut the limes/ lemons right before getting to your venue. How my pricing is determined: 1. Where is the party located?  2. Is the party indoors or outdoors? 3. How many guests? 4. Do you need a bar? 5. How many bartenders/servers are needed? 6. Bartending Hours? Please do not hesitate to contact me to review the full variety of themes we can discuss. To ensure you know you are being taken care of by a true professional I am a Certified Bartender since 2010 as well as ATAP Certified, Alcohol Training Awareness Program.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I have a personal potential customer questionnaire that I fill out while I am on the phone with you so I can get a better assessment of what your needs are. I also like to come and view the venue in advance or send me pictures. I also give advice, if it is needed I have wine, and spirits list I provide with a check-off box to my clients of what they should buy. I also have access to a Caterer, DJ and Event Decorator.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been certified since 2010 and I am also ATAP certified, (Alcohol Training Awareness Program). Certificate available upon request. New York Off-Premises Alcohol Training Awareness Program (ATAP) Approved in New York for alcohol server/seller certification. The Serving® Responsible Serving® of alcohol Course is an approved New York Alcohol Training Awareness Program (ATAP), by the New York State Liquor Authority for New York alcohol seller certification. I am also a brand ambassador for wine and spirit companies.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I model, act and I am a celebrity interviewer. I started doing on and off-premise for liquor companies and I got hired by Jim Jones and Camron for Sizzurp. It was an amazing job, so I just took it to another level. I saw other bartenders coming with just a beer & bottle opener and shaker, as I watched them work, I was not impressed especially when someone came to the bar and asked do you have a lime? No, do you have a napkin? No, do you have a stirrer or straw? No, they just said "NO" I would have been embarrassed. That really is not good customer service at all. Also, I think the people hosting the party had too much on their mind and forgot about the little details, they did have cups and liquor. When I spoke to the bartenders they did not care, they are getting paid anyway that was their response. My parents did not raise me like that., yes, we want to get paid but where is the good or great customer service. Then you expect a tip...ok...lol. Here's one, treat people the way you would want to be treated if the shoe was on the other foot, how would you feel? I decided to take my interest to another level. I went to bartending school and got certified, I thought it would be easy. To my surprise, it wasn’t. I had a newfound respect for bartenders especially for our back and feet…lol.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Celebrities and hard working class people. People that want and care about an exceptional experience. A unique individual that has class and elegance or just people that are fun and positive. Again, I have worked with and for professionals, celebrities, regular beautiful people like myself.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My boss from Bull Dog Gin referred a client to me for Super Bowl weekend. The client needed a bartender and 4 waiters, I was able to provide what he needed. The event was from 4-10pm at $75 hour. He tipped me $260.00 he was soooo pleased and so was I. When my boss arrived to the party, the client said, “Vanessa is exceptional and she was here an hour early”, I saw the look on my boss's face...priceless. The first time he referred me to someone and I know it will not be the last. I am passionate about what I do. The team I employed that day was amazing, teamwork makes the dream work.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Know that two heads are sometimes better than one. We are a team. Think about what you want and do not want before you connect with me, do not wing it. Have a pen and paper handy to write down things in case you forget. Get contact and email information also. Be and stay organized.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Just be open-minded and know that you are not in this alone. Teamwork makes the dream work. Let it flow naturally.
