Introduction

*Due to the nature of Thumbtack’s platform, after receiving a quote from us, please only respond if you would like to move forward with the price of our services. Otherwise, please refrain from responding. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Pricing solely reflects our customer’s needs (also the professionalism and dedication LBN brings). I understand that throwing any event can be a big investment, but I can assure you that our service offers advantages you won’t find at a lower cost. And we always offer alternatives within the client’s budget (options with less of the bells and whistles). We always work with our clients to make sure they get quality service that meets their needs. Pricing is usually set, and promotions are available at certain time frames.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We seek to form relationships with our customers. The process begins with scheduling a private consultation to assess the client’s needs for the event. You may call or email to request a consultation. All consultations are screened, although we wish we could help every client in need of our services, we do take into account our event calendar at the time of the request. Your first consultation is free of charge, it lasts about 30 minutes and is scheduled with the owner (Maria Harkless). During the consultation we strive to provide as much information as possible regarding your event, the services we offer, and packages we recommend for you. A deposit or flat fee quote is given at the conclusion of the consultation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
First certified as a “neighborhood expert” at Applebee’s, where I fostered my passion for serving amazing drinks, and making on-point recommendations, as well as fueling my outgoing personality, and natural ability to maintain the bar’s rhythm.I then became TIPS certified, with an organization designed to deliver state-approved responsible alcohol training for bartenders/server’s to reduce penalties for alcohol violations, minimizing exposure to alcohol liability lawsuits, and lowering insurance premiums for my clients.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Serving at a local restaurant, where I had the opportunity to bartend. I wasn’t happy with the position at first but grew to love and even became passionate about it. After bartending at said restaurant, I was able to travel to other locations where I came across professor Thompson. He told me about one of his childhood friends who opened his own bar, and acknowledged that he saw that same fire in my eyes, and ever since I’ve been developing and growing LaVon’s bar Nation.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types of customers, having worked for over 20 years in the hospitality industry. I’ve had the opportunity to work with an array of clients. And while everyone’s event is unique in its own way, I find that most people are just looking to make and preserve memories, these are individuals who trust LBN to do just that.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
LBN recently had the opportunity to provide our services at a beautiful couples picnic. The energy was upbeat and lively and we were commended both for our overall service and the layer of energy we helped to bring to the event. With the energy and feedback we received from the clients and their guests it’d be reasonable to say our spirits liven the spirits of any event we come to.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look at previous work and always check out reviews. We recommend researching your options when hiring a bartender as you want someone who’s knowledgeable, because a professional truly knows their craft. Consider your personal needs, as far as good customer service skills and situational awareness. Be wary of the lowest price, as most experienced, frequently hired bartenders value their time spent on consultations, excellent time management, and making guests feel taken care of during their time at the event.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have an understanding of your needs (know your venue, amount of guests, theme, type of bar if needed), understand if your professionals are certified within the state you live in. Are they insured with general liability, etc. You need to look for someone you can work with, someone that you trust 100% with carrying out the event you envision.
