Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have a lot of add-on options available. I charge an extra $150 to bring my bar. I charge a 20% gratuity if a tip jar is not allowed. I will need to include prep and clean-up before and after the event in the pricing. I offer free alcohol pickup and transport if needed. I do have Champagne buckets for every service. Free drink menu design is available for jobs that are 6 hours or longer.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Once a new client has contacted me, I like to schedule a phone call meeting and take notes during that meeting. I will email the client my notes and a rough estimate. If the client wishes to change anything I will make those adjustments and send a final estimate. If everything is approved, I will send my contract for the client to look over and sign then request a 20% - 35% deposit.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
All of the bartenders have their TABC and Food Handlers certifications. The head bartender has been in the hospitality industry for 14 years and a bartender for 11 years. Another bartender that has been in the hospitality industry for 15 years and a bartender for 8 years We have one bartender who has been in the restaurant industry for 3 years and a bartender for 1. I do have Liquor Liability Insurance.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In the beginning, it was my family or friends that hired me to do private parties and events. I received a lot of positive feedback and enjoyed the work. Working for myself was always the dream so I started my own business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Most of my clients are middle-aged adults looking for help to host.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently worked at a Christmas work function. The client knew me for three years before she hired me. She contacted me a month before the Event. The client asked me for drink and liquor recommendations along with how much alcohol we should have on hand and if we should have a keg or bottled beer. I created two signature drinks and sent her a rough estimate of how much all of the items would cost. The day of the party we picked up and transported the alcohol. We were able to set up the bar in a timely fashion. Everyone at the event was impressed and we received lots of compliments. The prep, clean up and event lasted about eight hours. Everyone left the event safe and happy.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Please ask us any questions you may have. If you do not want to use any add-ons, please let us know so we can adjust the price accordingly. Most of us are willing to work within your budget. If you do not want to our services, please let us know instead of ghosting us. You will not hurt our feelings if you want to hire another bartending service.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is the most important part of the service you need? Do you need someone to help create a drink menu and recommend what alcohol you should buy? Do you want someone to walk around and bring the drinks to the table and party guests or just have the bartender stay behind the bar? Do you need their help with cleaning during and after the party? Not only are you paying for a bartender's skill set but you are paying for their time. Hiring a bartender is a luxury and can be pretty expensive.
