What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

All work is done on an actual time and materials basis. Current billing rates are $200 for the first hour (minimum) and $130 per hour thereafter. We offer discounts for Senior Citizens and active and retired military members.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

An inquiry via phone, website, e-mail, etc. will typically lead to a discussion about the scope of work to be done. In most cases, we are able to provide a reasonable estimate of the project costs based on this discussion. More complex situation may require an on-site evaluation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We employ a team of multi-skilled professional Handymen who are completely background checked, insured and bonded. Our Handymen have an average of more than 15 years experience in the trades.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

We have been in operation since November 2005 when we began as Handyman Matters. In 2019 the Ace Hardware Company purchased the franchise system and we re-branded to Ace Handyman Services in 2020. Since the beginning our mission is to help our neighbors maintain, repair and improve their homes.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Our customers are as varied as the wider community. From college students in their first apartments, to young families in their first homes, to middle-aged couples in their family homes, to senior citizens right-sizing into new homes; we are ready and able to help all our neighbors with their home repair and improvement needs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We recently re-built a set of exterior stairs for an older customer to add hand rails and a lower stair height so that she could more easily come and go from her home. The project took the better part of two days (including rain delays).

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for professional customer service and someone you can count on to show up on time and get the work done within your timeframe. Look for background checked and insured workers. Look for a guarantee and an organization that will stand behind the guarantee.
