Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My base fee is a fixed rate of $75 that includes one hour. Then after that it’s an hourly rate. And if you are a customer who returns to me after the initial project I offer a 10% discount. It’s very important to me to have customers happy and calling me for future help.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First of all my customer and I can do as much as we can contactless. Give me an explanation and send me pictures and or video. I want my customer to feel very comfortable with me in their house. I want them to realize I will treat them and their problem just like it was mine.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Along with my training from my father I took two years of architecture and building trades while in high school. Then I added a certified operator in charge for pest control in 1994. I am certified in three categories in Florida. these categories are regulated by the department of agriculture. Then in 2006 I completed my degree of entomology. This is an internationally recognized license.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Repair and remodeling is in my blood. My dad was a carpenter and he took me to all his jobs when I was a small boy. I have been able to work with some outstanding carpenters building houses, building office buildings and remodeling complete houses. Then my career for the last 30 years took me into pest control. It seems a natural fit to combine my Carpenter skills with the repair and destruction of termites and ants and roaches.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I assembled a chicken coop for a customer. It came in two large boxes. A good challenge. The best part though is when the customer says “cute “and was very happy after it was completed.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for transparency in pricing. In Another words I state up front that I have a minimum fee that includes the first hour. Then I will work hourly or give a total cost for the job when possible. There’s no bait and switch that way. I would also ask the person how much will it cost me for you to help me for two hours? Any qualified handyman should be able to answer that question.
