What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Different services I provide have different pricing associated with them (furniture assemblies, tv mountings, moving, etc). For furniture assemblies specifically, prices listed are just estimates depending on complexity and weight. Most pricing is based on 2 hours / item but can take longer and some assemblies require 2 people.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It’s fairly straight forward, I really just like to get a full sense of the job scope (which includes pictures, links, a phone call, or FaceTime if I need to see something in real time). After that, we can agree on a price and a date and should be good to go.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a bachelors degree in business management and worked for Angie’s list for 2 years assembling furniture and mounting televisions/concealing wires, etc.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I’ve always been handy but only turned it into a business the last couple of years when I got burnt out from sitting at a desk all day in my corporate job.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I’ve worked with all kinds of customers — stagers, home owners, renters, businesses that need office furniture assembled, the church, customers who need help moving, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently helped a customer move from one location to another. At the new location they needed furniture assembled and TVs mounted. It was a nice mixture of different projects and made a big difference for the client to have everything done in one day.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would say take your time and talk to a few professionals about what your needs are and how much you are looking to spend. Find someone who you feel knows what they are doing. In my experience the cheapest priced providers tend to rush through jobs and the quality suffers.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Budget and timing are the most important but a lot of this comes down to common sense and just having a conversation with professionals so that expectations can be aligned on before starting anything.
