Hello, I am Laura Walker, owner of Walker Tax & Bookkeeping. I have been in the tax industry since 2009. Before I prepared taxes, I was a government auditor- so I know how to keep you out of trouble! I love taxes and I love helping people with their taxes. I work with individuals, preparing and planning for taxes and financial planning for retirement. I also work with small businesses; bookkeeping, providing payroll services, sales tax and preparing and planning for business taxes. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge based on how long it will take me to prepare your taxes. We have a base fee of $225 and $285 for single and married filing joint, respectively. The base fee is our average fee and only increases if you have a more complex situation.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I am a paperless company and try to do everything online. This keeps my overhead low, value up and prices down. I will email a list of all the documents that I need to prepare a tax return and a link to my secure portal for the client to upload their documents. From there, I prepare the return and send the final product back to the client for review before e-filing.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Master of Business Taxation (MBT) from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, received in 2011. I am also an Enrolled Agent, licensed by the IRS to represent taxpayers. Finally, I am a QuickBooks Proadvisor, ready to help with all of your transaction processing, sales tax calculations and payroll tax filing needs.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started by preparing all of my family member's returns and loved it so I went on to get educated, licensed and corporate work experience before starting my own business.
