What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My base rate is $60/hr. but I am very flexible and willing to bill at a flat rate depending on the job or task that is needed. My tax work is more based on the amount of work that needs to be completed (forms) and the individual clients needs. Again, I am very flexible and willing to work with my clients. If you have both, bookkeeping & tax needs I will discount the tax return to be able to assist with both.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I prefer to talk to my clients either via phone or even email if that is all that is available, so that I am able to understand what their individual needs are and how I can best help them. I have done this type of work in excess of 30 years, so there is very little that I haven't done :-)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors Degree in Business with emphasis in accounting. I am a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and I am a CTEC approved tax preparer in the state of CA. I also am an IRS approved tax preparer.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have always loved accounting! I took my first bookkeeping course in high school and have been hooked ever since. I got in to taxation as a upward move from accounting and also love it.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with a large variety of clients from Construction to the Medical Dental fields.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I had a new client who had not done their books for the entire year! I got them completely caught up within 16hours! I then trained them how to get the most out of QuickBooks and how to streamline their data entry so that it was not such a daunting endeavor! I love to train my clients so that they don't feel so intimidated by accounting!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Take time to interview the person, make sure that their personality and experience are a match for you and or your business. You not only want experience on your side, but you need to be able to have a good and trusting relationship with your bookkeeper, accountant or tax preparer.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

1. How much time they estimate the project should take. 2. What specific business or personal events would be important for their accounting/tax person should know. 3. Timing - when does the project need to be completed by.
