Introduction

Set your own convenient time for a telephone meeting! Please let me know if a weekend or early-morning time is better and we can likely accommodate that. Also, while I live and work in Denver, Colorado, I can do taxes in any state! Sometimes individual research is needed to ensure you get state deductions and credits. I can help anyone no matter the state! I'm in the tax business so that I can give my customers peace of mind. Indeed, filing the taxes accurately, securely, and with ease is the aim. However, every single person's situation is unique. My goal is to understand yours and then help use the tax laws to your advantage. I also want to identify and educate you on strategies in a friendly, easy-to-understand way so you keep more of your money. Maybe your taxes are straight-forward? Or you might be confused or feeling like you're missing out on tax benefits? Perhaps you feel your taxes/tax situation is a mess? No judgment in any case: I am glad to help you no matter what. Business, personal, or both, let's work together to get what you deserve and keep it that way! *For Accounting, the hourly rate does not apply to tax returns. These are priced differently due to unique circumstances and complexity.* Finally, my goal is to establish a long-term business relationship. I'd love to be your 'tax guy' for years to come, not just do them once, collect the payment, and move on. Accountants are retiring, and sadly, I'm hearing about too many that have made bad mistakes. In light of this, I'd love to provide the consistency and reliability customers need and deserve.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The prices listed is a general base price for non-complex returns. This will give you an idea of the minimum charge for your tax return. However, tax returns are highly variable among different people: some are easier, and some have more complexity. Thus, the price will have to be customized depending on your unique situation.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
A new client can start by booking their preferred time to speak with me. Either way, I will message them back so they know I received their contact and I appreciate it! We can either have a Zoom meeting or speak on the telephone. This way, you can ask me any questions and I can understand more about your tax situation. I'll be able to give you an approximate quote. Then we will set you up with a secure document portal so you can transmit your tax items.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am on the way to becoming an Enrolled Agent (E.A.). This is equivalent in stature to a C.P.A., but an Enrolled Agent is specialized in dealing with all types of tax matters. Currently, I am part of the Annual Filing Season Program (A.F.S.P.) offered by IRS. While not an official credential, an A.F.S.P. is an 'enrolled preparer' who must take education, abide by codes of conduct, and may prepare client returns. It's a stepping stone for professionals who are in the process of earning an official credential.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started by learning how to do my own taxes in 2007. My Mom actually taught me the process and the challenge intrigued me. From there, I looked forward to preparing my own taxes yearly. This also sparked an interest in bookkeeping, starting with maintaining my own personal budget. I realized that if I enjoyed doing this in my own life, I could probably help others as well. Beginning in 2014 and 2015, I took LOTS of tax education which led to my first client in late 2015.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Besides individual returns, I have helped customers with LLCs, Partnerships, and S-Corporations. I can help a wide variety of situations because of my education, but also because we have businesses set up as those listed entities. I live and breathe this every day just like you, so I know the tax/accounting challenges. Really, the only areas I do not work is trusts and estates. Otherwise, I've helped nearly everyone else!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
In order to answer this, I prefer to state how I interact with clients. I realize the other person may not like taxes, might be intimidated, fearful, or all of this. Therefore, I employ good customer service when speaking with anyone. I try not to use complicated tax jargon, and I try to relate to the person on the other end of the line. Also, I try to make them feel at ease. They already expect someone like me should know my stuff and be able to file taxes for them, so why should I convince them I can do this? Instead, I'd rather show them I'm personable, I will treat them with respect, and I want them to understand their situation. That's what I'd want from someone who will see my sensitive financial information, so I try to deliver this to the best of my ability myself!
