Introduction

I am a CPA in South Carolina offering income tax preparation and accounting services for individuals and small businesses. I started this journey after working for a large public accounting firm which dealt mostly with high-earning individuals and businesses. After leaving the firm, my sister reached out to me one day about reviewing her tax return that was prepared by a tax preparation franchise in Georgia. I quickly noticed many available tax deductions were not taken on her rental property. I amended the return and she received $6,000 back from the IRS. Through this experience, I saw the need for more tax preparation options for the middle-class. At the time, my sister had lower income with 3 children and didn’t think she could afford a CPA. With 4 children of my own, I am thankful I don’t have to choose between a storefront tax preparation franchise or a costly CPA firm. She was charged $400 for the incorrect return filed by the tax prep franchise. At this price, even though she had multiple sources of income, I believe she should have been able to find a CPA who could prepare her return right the first time. I have a passion for helping others by solving their tax issues and minimizing their tax burdens at an affordable price. Please reach out to me for a free estimate or free high-level review of your prior years return.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Highly competitive pricing for CPA services.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
You will never have to leave your business or home! I do most of my work remotely but can also meet in person as needed. I use a secure online portal where you can upload your documents and download your final returns!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I graduated from Florida State University with a major in Accounting. I am a CPA with 9 years of experience.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started in a large public accounting firm preparing income tax returns. After 3 years, I left the firm for another accounting/controller role requiring less hours to balance work and my growing family. I continued to do tax returns for family and friends after leaving the firm. In June 2020, God led me to resign from my full-time position and focus on the business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Individuals and businesses

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Helping an individual who received an IRS letter saying they owed a substantial amount of money. Amended and filed prior year returns which greatly reduced their tax liability. Project took about 2 weeks after receiving all required documentation.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hiring an experienced tax professional is critical for some but not needed for everyone. The IRS offers free filing for lower income individuals on their website. This is a great resource for those with simple tax needs.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
For tax preparation, consider your sources of income to determine what type of services are right for you. Take caution using storefront tax franchises if you have more invasive tax needs, such as self-employment (1099) income or income from investments or rental properties.
