Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Pricing is done by the project. I do not have set fees that I can just provide over the phone or via email without seeing your current books. Tax returns are priced by form and the complexity of the tax situation.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We would have a discussion of the needs of the company and the owner while I review their current accounting books and prior years tax returns. I would present a proposal to include the price of the project and the scope of what needs to be done and also the price for ongoing monthly bookkeeping services and tax return preparation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been working as a Lead Bookkeeper or Accounting Manager for over 20 years and am Certified in Quickbooks Online, Quickbooks Online Advanced, Quickbooks Payroll and a tax preparer.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I fell in love with Accounting in a high school Accounting elective class. I won first place in my district for Accounting and third place at the state level for two years in a row in high school. My love for Accounting just carried on through my adulthood and I have made a career out of doing what I truly love to do.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked in house for construction companies primarily the first 15 years of my experience. The last eight or so years I branched out and started with working with small businesses within many different industries such as, staffing, photography, medical billing, transportation, advertising/marketing, home health, real estate developers, both large and small. I do individual, sole proprietor and S Corporation tax returns.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I enjoy the puzzle so a project that I recent did was taking one Quickbooks account that consisted of six different companies intertwined together. I split them up into six different Quickbooks accounts and did all of the bookkeeping work for 16 months and amended two years of tax returns after finding errors that minimized the tax payers deductions. Another project was an Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable two year clean up. Putting the pieces together and getting it all cleaned up was a lot of fun.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask a lot of questions. Also, communication is key so be sure that the person you are looking to hire does communicate well with you and within a reasonable time. Someone that doesn't respond within 24-48 business hours may not have the time to do your project or answer the questions that you may have.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What exactly do you want to see from your bookkeeping service? Are there particular reports that you want to see on a monthly or quarterly basis? How do you see profitability in your company? How quickly are you needing your tax returns completed?
