Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I do not have the cheapest pricing because I strive to provide convenient and quality services for clients. I am not a one and done type of accountant because I like to provide my clients with advice on how they can save taxes and how to improve their accounting processes. I do however provide one time discounts on referrals.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My process involves getting to know the client either by phone or in-person in my office to get a thorough understanding of their situation which in turn helps me assess the best action to take. I have clients that I have never met in-person where I will communicate with them back and forth by phone or email and I retrieve their documents via a secure system to make sure their information is not compromised. This tends to be the most convenient way for a lot of my clients.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I take continuing education courses throughout the year to stay up to date on the tax laws. I also take Quickbooks accounting education courses to find out the latest updates that are available to the program.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got started doing this type of work when I entered the finance industry over 10 years ago. I realized that I had a knack for calculating and manipulating numbers so I decided that the accounting field would be a good place for me to do that.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a wide range of customers. From individuals who need help filing their 1040s to companies who need me to assist their office manager or bookkeeper on how to clean up their books and accounting processes.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My favorite types of projects are where I help small businesses and self-employed individuals get their books clean and ready for taxes and then assess what type of tax entity would be the most advantageous for tax savings. I have been able to save clients thousands of dollars by doing this for them.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
A lot of accountants are very busy, especially during tax season. However, even though they are busy they still need to communicate updates, deadlines, pricing, etc. so that both the client and the accountant are on the same page at all times.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
If you need your taxes done make sure you have the last year that has been filed readily available so that the professional will know where to start and how to advise you properly.
